This is a crisis that can be stopped, this does not need to happen, these people can be rehomed in Turkey. The failure of European Politicians, and the sheer insanity of Germany, will go down as one of the most shameful events of the 21st Century.

56,000 in 6 days? Oh my. It just gets even more depressing.

.

The huge increase is all down to that stupid Mrs Merkel , she opened the flood gates and everyone else is paying the price , she should be held accountable for her stupidity

what the fuck is Greece going to do with them? their own citizens are refugees in their own country (mostly because they want government to give them everything, for free, and they want to retire at age 39)

my guess is we're going to be giving all those countries money (which we borrow from the cloud) because now is a time they WANT us to get involved. They'll complain about it later

so if we're paying for it, that's almost like we're taking them in

so Turkey took in the most refugees, about 1,500,000, we have 12 to 20 million already, and we issued about 10 million visas in 2014 alone

“There is a crime here that goes beyond denunciation. There is a sorrow here that weeping cannot symbolize. There is a failure here that topples all our success.”
John Steinbeck, The Grapes of Wrath

I've never been a big fiction reader but Grapes of Wrath is one of my favorite books.

It's a book that transcends time.

Who would've thought in 1939 that one day people would be moving from CA to OK?

So what you’re saying is we are Greece with a better credit rating?

Now that would be funny if it wasn’t true.

Lol. Never thought of that but very true.

Yeah I didn't make it up myself. In the spirit of full disclosure, I got it from a Peter Thiel (founder of PLAYPLALL).....It is very interesting and topical though. Although not really a subject for this thread.

As evidence of a deceleration in tech, he said that Amazon.com and Google together have a larger market capitalization than the combined market caps of every tech company founded since the year 2000.
He also took a shot at California in general, noting that in Grapes of Wrath Oklahomans moved to the state in droves, but now it's the opposite: Californians are moving to Oklahoma, and elsewhere, in search of economic opportunity.
The movie and aviation industries were built in California, and now some people think it's up to the tech industry to save it from economic peril, he said. Technology, though, is only "about enough to bail out the government workers union in San Francisco," Thiel said.
He said the promise of technology "hasn't quite delivered the goods" or "filtered down" to many Americans. "We've been talked in to believing that throwing angry bids at pigs is the best we can do," he joked.

VIDEO: Tens of Thousands More Muslims Storm Slovenia Border, Calls for “End of EU”

Slovenia sees end to EU as leaders fail on migrant plan.

The best thing that could happen would be the end of the EU.

European nations need to take back their sovereignty. The EU was and is a dangerous collective that is anti-freedom and anti-individualism.

In the hope of garnering a few crumbs of influence, the EU privileged a massive Muslim immigration into Europe, paid billions to the Mediterranean Union and Palestinian Authority, weakened the European states, undermined their unity, and wrapped itself in the flag of Palestinian justice, as though this would supply some protective system against the global jihad, which it endeavored to focus on Israel. Slovenian Prime Minister Miro Cerar says he will take action to protect his nation’s security if other European countries — notably Croatia — do not help Slovenia cope with the migrant influx.

Cerar said Sunday that more than 60,000 people had arrived in tiny Slovenia over the last 10 days, many of them through Croatia. He said “we will not be able to endure this for weeks to follow if we don’t get any help.”

Cerar spoke at an emergency summit in Brussels on Europe’s migrant crisis.

Merkel wants them? Send them all to Germany and close your borders.

EU will ‘fall apart’ if no quick action on migrants: Slovenia,” Yahoo,

Brussels (AFP) – The European Union will “start falling apart” if it fails to take concrete action to tackle the migrant crisis within the next few weeks, Slovenian Prime Minister Miro Cerar warned Sunday.

“If we do not deliver some immediate and concrete actions on the ground in the next few days and weeks I believe the EU and Europe as a whole will start falling apart,” said Cerar, whose tiny country of two million has been swamped by more than 60,000 migrants in a matter of days.

Cerar, who spoke as he went into an emergency summit on the migrant influx, said his country was facing a “very serious” situation and could not cope on its own for much longer.

The numbers arriving in Slovenia were proportionate to half a million arriving in Germany in one day, he said.

“We will not be able to endure this for weeks if we do not get help,” the prime minister said, calling on neighbour Croatia not to continue pushing migrants onward to
Slovenia on their way to other countries in the EU.

An unprecedented 670,000 people, mainly fleeing conflict in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, have flooded into Europe so far this year in the continent’s worst crisis of its kind since World War II.

The majority cross from Turkey into Greece and then on through the Balkans with the aim mostly of getting to Germany.

Faced with a huge influx over the summer, Hungary clamped down on its border with Serbia, prompting the refugees to switch into Croatia which in turn imposed border controls, pushing them into Slovenia.

Germany and Austria have also introduced border controls after earlier opening their arms to the wave of arrivals, which has put Europe’s cherished system of borderless travel in jeopardy.

Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia on Saturday warned they would not accept being turned into a “buffer zone” for the tens of thousands of arrivals streaming into Europe and would close their borders if Austria and Germany did so.

Sunday’s mini summit, called by European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, groups the heads of 10 EU nations, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, plus the leaders of non-EU Albania, Serbia and Macedonia.
