So far we are on a nice 2-0 Run to start the NFL season (although it is just the preseason). And I am looking to close out this week a perfect 3-0 with this game tonight.
SF 49ers vs Houston Texans
(Play sent out at 4am pst)
Quick and to the point here, I've done the breakdowns, and checked the rosters. The 49ers are hugely depleted on the offensive line... This game is exactly like the Jets/Lions game we had 2 days ago! And on the other side you have 2 decent QB's playing in the first half for the Texans with Hoyer/Mallett and expect to see some Tom Savage after the first half, and believe me, Savage has improved from last year from what I have seen in training camp. Then on the 49ers side, you sill see maybe a quarter of Kaepernick, the regressing QB who will be blocked by his depleted offensive line. After that, Blaine Gabbert makes his appearance, the same Jacksonville Jaguars bust the past few years. He should play (horribly I might add) into the 3rd quarter, then here comes Dylan Thompson... An undrafted rookie in this past draft class.
Notable players to watch for the 49ers will be Jarryd Haynes... The Australian rugby player the 49ers signed during mini camp. While he looked flashy on the rugby field ind in minicamp practice, he looked uncomfortable, sluggish and had problems seeing the field with a helmet. But he should break a nice run or 2, and catch a pass. But his problem is he runs standing straight up, and doesnt lower his shoulders.
Texans are retaining a lot of their defense this year, and most will play till the 49ers 1st team sits down. And the 49ers mediocre D will sit soon as Texans offense sits, which should be the end of first quarter or before.
This is where the handicapping of preseason comes in. Its backups vs backups, and if you have the ability to study those players and the teams, this is where you shine when you wager.
This game will be won on the defensive side of the ball. Hands down.... The Texans have the better plays and play makers to stop the 49ers the entire game. And Mallet and Hoyer are capable of managing the offense for a score, especially with their deep roster of WR's and RB's... something the 49ers lack this year.
So take this one to the bank again guys and girls, cash it in, and have a nice weekend!
Texans -2.5
Again, have a great weekend,
