The only reason I can think of is that NETeller caved into US DoJ pressure, and the reason is to prevent terrorist cell money laundering.

I don't think terrorists have gambling-coded merchant accounts. They can still use Canadian NETELLER accounts for peer-to-peer transfers just fine.

The DOJ is acting like a hired mercenary to U.S. land-casino interests. Pig for hire.

I don't see why someone can't open up a bank account in the Bahamas or any Caribean island, either in person or by mail. Then transfer monies from their US bank account to the offshore account. Then write a check from the offshore account to the casino. The authorities in the Bahamas or any of the Caribean islands couldn't care less where the money from that bank account is going. It is not hard to open one of these bank accounts.

Payoffs by the casino would be made the same way.

I think a lot of pros do this sort of thing already. Recreational gamblers can't be bothered will all the hassle. It's easier for them to just hop in the car and head for the nearest Indian reservation.

Just got this email from Neteller:

Guess you'll need to move to Hungary or somewhere like that.

Yeah, it all works great from Hungary. They don't have such silly laws there, and you can send bank wires to anywhere in the world through the internet.

But if ECO card catches on at more places, that'll be the way to go. I liked those guys from the start when they didn't even require a name and address, just a security question and that's it. Get the account number wrong on the bank wire and it could be hard to correct the error, though.

Still, as an adult, I like being responsible for my own actions. For many living in North America, that must be a novel concept.

These guys at ECO card seem to understand freedom, unlike the US government and its apologists...
