Once in my life @ Morongo(Hate that place) about 4 years ago and made about $145 playing BJ. At that time they were taking .50 cents a hand, I don't think they do that anymore... How about you?

I call that place "moron go" casino.

The thing that makes me really sad is people keep playing these games and are oblivious they are being bent over and stuck.
That and the lack of education on the gambler's part with respect to odds keeps these "corporations" reeling in the cash.

GD:

I can't tell you how many times people have told me "I play the slots and when I lose a roll of quarters I quit and I figure I've had $20 worth of entertainment. One time I won $60!" Most people play for the chance of winning. I don't know of too many adults that don't know that the odds are against them. It's entertainment for them with the chance that they may get their money back. You don't ever get that by going to the theater or dining out.

It's like the lottery. They keep buying the tickets on the odd chance that they may win.

Nothing is done by so many people with so little knowledge of what they are doing than gambling.

I disagree with you Fishhead on #1. I know that you know that the payouts on VP are a lot worse than they were 5 years ago, which was worst than 10 years ago. Many casino hit soft 17 now than a few years ago. This is one rule that affects the average player.

#2 is also correct for the average gambler who will lose more than the comps are worth. This is not true of a player who knows how to beat the system.

In any endeavor "the average player" and "average gambler" lose.

but i will say it seems more often than not when people play stupid it screws the table

Just seems this way. Their actions are just as likely to help you as hurt you.

For some weird reason I have lost everytime I played single deck BJ. I have fared alot better playing the 6-8 decks.. Weird I guess..

Variance.

People do crazy shit there, staying on 12,

'Crazy' can sometimes be correct.

I'll still take single deck over 6 and 8 decks.

Feel free to do it, doesn't matter if you're playing for kicks.

thanks kermit, very good info!!

tennis, if you are going to play blackjack and don't know what you are doing, well that does hurt me because i think most people expect you to at least follow standard blackjack play. but i will say it seems more often than not when people play stupid it screws the table, for example the dealer has a five showing, this girl next to me has a 13 against a dealers 5, she hits, she gets a 7, she is all excited she has a 20, dealer flips a 10 for 15 the 7 would have busted the dealer, instead she took the 7 the dealer flips up a 4 for 19, my 18 and 100 dollar bet loses, her 20 and 10 dollar bet wins but the rest of the table lost when the entire table should have won. At this specific casino people do this all the time.
So if you have a 12 and the dealer has a face, you stay. So you are counting on the dealer busting, thus the dealer has to have a 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 then in turn follow that with a card that will bust them, clearly the odds are not in your favor with that play.

selective memory. Over long term others' play will not affect your overall outcome. A very common misconception.

And craps (depending on which bets you make) has one of the lowest house edges of any game in the casino. The Pass/Don't Pass/Come lines have house edges of 1.41%/1.364%/1.41% respectively, and takes no skill. An unskilled blackjack player would be better off playing craps, so long as they stick to those bets.

Craps is the best game to play imo. I have had more winning experiances with craps than any other game inside of a casino. If you read up on some craps systems and dilligently stuck to a system you may view the game otherwise.

The best bet in the whole casino is taking maximum odds behind the pass line or don't pass. It's the only bet that pays true odds. No house advantage whatsoever. I prefer playing at craps tables that offer a high multiplier "behind the line" odds. 10x1 is very nice. A $5 pass line bet means after the come out roll, you can put $50 behind the line, $10 on the pass line means you can place $100 behind the line.... etc. A point of 10 or 4 pays exactly 2-1...etc. Every number pays true odds.

Actually even more prevelant than aromas being put into the ventilation system of casinos is two other much more common practices.

1. KEEPING TEMP BELOW 68 DEGREES

2. PUMPING ADDITIONAL OXYGEN INTO THE AIR

Both methods keep gamblers alert and energized, thus staying longer in the casino.
pumping additional oxygen into the air??
Are you on crack buddy!
As a firefighter and in the know,it is ILLEGAL to vent, pump this extremely flammable gas into any casino period.
Can you say the MGM Grand fire of 77 i believe the year was.
Because of the oxygen venting practice, once the fire hit the casino it took 6 seconds to fully engulf. Many lost their lives that day.

You bust the author`s balls calling him ignant.

lol, Hellis right,, I think because they keep the TEMP at a balmy 68F this may lead to the thought that their is an increased oxygen flow, however, as HELL will attest, the ability to actually enrich the True compsition of normal O2, well, it just isnt happening,

However,

this is a good thread,

FISH, can I make a suggestion, can you CREATE a multi page symposium on propper slot machine play,

if I could make another suggestion, each one of the MODS should create their own PAGE of their TIPS on thoughts on handicapping their respective sports,

and leave them LOCKED,,

this would be a great refrence point for all NEWBIES,

Oxygen is a drug.

Oxygen saturation in most of our bodies stays above 88% at all times anyway...

Casinos arent pumping oxygen into the casinos and if they are it isnt enough to make a difference in alertness.

Keeping the air cool to cold and circulating is what they are doing.
