This list was updated early 2015 for coaches' pay raises announced since the 2014 season. The figures listed below are the coaches current annual pay agreed to.

1. $7,160,187, Nick Saban, Alabama
2. $5,800,000, Urban Meyer, Ohio State
3. $5,636,145, Mark Dantonio, Michigan State
4. $5,500,000, Jimbo Fisher, Florida State
5. $5,058,333, Bob Stoops, Oklahoma
6. $5,006,000, Kevin Sumlin, Texas A&M
7. $5,000,270, Charlie Strong, Texas
8. $5,000,000, Jim Harbaugh, Michigan
9. $4,369,582, Les Miles, LSU
10. $4,300,000, James Franklin, Penn State
11. $4,075,000, Kirk Ferentz, Iowa
12. $4,016,900, Steve Spurrier, South Carolina
13. $4,008,150, Gary Patterson, TCU
14. $4,000,000, Mark Richt, Georgia....Bret Bielema, Arkansas.....Huge Freeze, Ole Miss.....Dan Mullen, Miss State

Eight of the $4 million plus coaches are from the SEC. Five are from the Big Ten. Three from the Big 12 and one from the ACC. The Pac 12 does not have a coach at this level for 2015. I remember when a head coach in the SEC making $100,000 per year was a big deal. Now, there are 9 or 10 high school coaches in Alabama making $100,000 or more.

Times they are a changing.

Urban Meyer climbing the salary ladder .......

Meyer's record as a college head coach is 142-26 (.845). He won more games (104) his first ten years than all but two coaches in college football history. He is on pace to have the most victories after his first 15 years as a head coach and to reach 200 victories faster than any other coach.

Guess a thought by many still lingering around out there is how long will his health hold up. People still remember the Florida flame out.

Urban is one of the best ever. What he's accomplished is amazing.

Not taking away from what he's accomplished, but college football plays more games today than it did just 10 years ago.

The "he won more games than all but 2 coaches" should have the caveat that in the years he's been a coach college football has 12 regular season games (vs 11 just 10 or so years ago) and most conferences have a championship game.....and now the 4 team playoff - all of which he has benefited from (i.e. he's won a lot....but he's had more opportunities to win).

groundhog, I believe there will be ten Alabama high school football coaches making $100,000 or more during 2015. The highest paid is Hoover HS's Josh Niblett at $125,000 followed by Auburn HS's Adam Winegarden at $123,000. I believe the third highest is Spain Park HS's Shawn Raines who will make $115,000.

High School football is serious stuff down here in Alabama!

CL, this includes their teaching salary also, right? Most veteran HS teachers in the south (which pays less than most parts of the country to educators) make over $60K/year. So they are getting a $40-60K supplement?

Ole Will ain't hurting for cash.

Got to think Muschamp has his eye on Georgia if Richt decides to hang it up in the next 2 or 3 years.

Oh yeah, some of these high schools have booster clubs that small colleges would die for. Alabama teachers certainly are not paid what most states around the country make.

I'm surprised Charlie Weis isn't on the list...lol. To give you an idea of the brilliance of Notre Dame, they are paying Weis nearly double what they are paying Brian Kelly. I ain't kidding! http://espn.go.com/college-football...g-big-paychecks-via-notre-dame-fighting-irish

Don't forget Kansas...he's still getting paid by them as well.

You are either willfully ignorant or just a hater. Private schools don't release this info.

I can promise you BK is in the top 10 with total compensation.

Notre Dame and Kansas both were another level of stupid for hiring and giving a guy with no previous head coaching or college experience the contract they did..

I agree that both were stupid but Kansas hired a head coach with experience and a known commodity. Guy is not made for the college game...not even sure how he has success in the NFL.

Tom Brady had more to do with his success than anything else.

Did you even bother to read the article?

Notre Dame is a non profit organization so it's tax returns are open to the public where they must list it's highest paid employees. Charlie Weis was paid more by Notre Dame than Kelly in 2012-2013, Muffet McGraw almost made as much as Kelly. :missingte

Charlie Strong makes to much money......Only been a HC for 5 seasons.....Having 2 good seasons in the weak Big East got him an Elite job at Texas......He won`t last at Texas......And with Swoopes being his QB again this season I can see another 6-7 season for Strong and the Longhorns.
