Clip Joint,

I guess we are all entitled to our opinions and while I respect you have a different one than I do, I totally disagree with your argument that The Pacers are BETTER than Detroit...

It wasn't all that long ago where they were within one game of being eliminated by a mediocre BOSTON team...

I believe DETROIT has the BEST DEFENSE of all the teams in this year's playoffs, so that alone is a big enough hurdle for the Pacers to overcome...

Good Luck and like always time will tell,

Shrink...we definitely have different opinions on this topic. I am a big basketball junkie so I enjoy discussions like this and hearing other opinions. Of course I think you are wrong, but that's what makes these discussions fun.

Indiana struggled with the #3 seed of the playoffs...Detroit struggled with the #7 seed. That "great" defense gave up 115 and 92 on the road to a one man team in Philadelphia.

Detroit has no bench. They were 22-19 on the road SU during the regular season and they are 1-2 on the road SU in the playoffs. How is there any value in eating chalk with a team that is at best equal to the Pacers AND being on the road where they are a very marginal team?

Indiana was probably the favorite to win it all before losing Artest. With his loss Reggie Miller has stepped in and is giving them everything Artest was giving (he is just not as physical).

Thanks Rob...The Shrink is someone who I respect and value reading his opinions. He would wipe the floor with me when it comes to handicapping. I just think this is a blatant error by books and handicappers and has been the entire playoffs as far as the value that is being given on the Pacers.

This team (even without Artest) would have been a 1 or 2 seed if they played with their current lineup and bench for an entire season. They should be a 4 or 5 point favorite in this spot. I cannot comprehend how people continue to see Detroit as the superior team in this matchup (not talking about The Shrink). This Detroit team has no depth and no offense.

Defense is great...but you have to score. They are shooting well below 40% the last 2 games. Keep in mind that Indiana is not a bad defensive team themselves...they were a top 5 defensive team in the NBA this year WITHOUT THEIR 3 BEST PLAYERS. I think they are a better defensive team than Detroit.

How anyone can say Detroit is a 2-1 favorite to win on the road against a better team is nuts in my opinion. That might be the worst value of any game I have seen in years in the playoffs.

Clip Joint,

I never said I would lay the points on Detroit today, although I do believe they will WIN this game...

Their DEFENSE is still the BEST of all the teams out there and while they played awfully last time out, DETROIT forced the Pacers into missing a ton of consecutive shots late in the game (13 or 17?), almost stealing it away from them...

If the Pacers & Detroit continue to play games in the 160's and 170's (and I think they will), I believe DETROIT wins this SERIES...

Shrink...that is the part that I don't understand. It is a great matchup. But I think Indiana is the better team. Even if you think Detroit is the better team, you would have to admit that it is only a slight advantage. Detroit has proven they are not a good road team. How do you justify laying -200 or higher on a bad road team against a good/great team? I agree that they could win today, but in no way should they be a 2-1 favorite to win on the road. I am shocked that you don't see the value in the Pacers at home.

I have made close to 100k on the Pacers so far in the playoffs. That is not to brag or boast as I know there are bigger players on this site. I just can't emphasize enough how much value books are giving with this team. Can you imagine Miami or Detroit being a 5.5 point dog at home? Indiana is on that level as far as their team.

Good Luck today and let's just agree to disagree...

I am no NBA expert, as College Sports are my GIG...

I have a different read on the Pistons than you obviously so...

Most of all, thanks for sharing your side...

Thanks Shrink...I really love the NBA and spend a lot of time following it. I respect your opinions and rarely disagree with your posts. I just thought I would chime in here because this is one spot/team I really think bookmakers are missing the boat on.

The game could go either way in my opinion. In games like that, there is no way I would lay this chalk especially on the moneyline. Plus as you have seen, I think the Pacers should be favored here anyway.

You won't ever see me going against you in a ODU discussion! :103631605

Good luck today.

I am taking the ML on Detroit also. One of the biggest factor I am taking into consideration is the Rasheed Wallace guarantee.

I find it hard to believe posters can talk about betting sharp and discussing a possible bet on a short price M/L, the stuff that Bookmaking empires were built on.
