Ravens sign former Patriots WR Nelson Agholor

The Baltimore Ravens have signed free agent wide receiver Nelson Agholor on a one-year, $3.25 million contract plus incentives, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz of The Score.

At 29, Agholor needs to get back to the level that had earned him a lucrative deal with the Patriots. The truth is he left a lot to be desired in New England after making an impression in Philadelphia and Las Vegas.

That makes him an intriguing addition, but if he can rediscover the level he found at the Raiders, then he could be of a lot of help for Jackson. Even so, Agholor may find himself receiving passes from another signal-caller in September.

The Tennessee Titans desperately need to capitalize on any and all opportunities presented to them in this year's NFL Draft. With the quarterback situations in the AFC South best described as "convoluted," general manager Ran Carthon is prepared to take some swings.

Keep an eye on Tennessee at No. 3 overall.

That's the message NFL Network's top draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah conveyed on an episode of his Move The Sticks podcast last week. That selection currently belongs to the Arizona Cardinals. With quarterback Kyler Murray under contract for the next five years, it would be borderline negligence for Arizona to stick and pick at No. 3.

It also just so happens that the new head of personnel for the Cardinals, Monti Ossenfort, got to Tempe, AZ this offseason by way of the Titans front office.

"Can I give you the team that I have been told to keep an eye on that's exploring this and looking into this?" said Jeremiah. "Again, this is just people around the league who said do not sleep on Numero 11. The Tennessee Titans. The two teams to keep an eye on with the trade-ups were the Raiders and the Titans."

AtoZ Sports is able to confirm the Tennessee portion of Jeremiah's report.

Several passer-needy teams will be jockeying for position to land one of this year's Top 4 (and potentially 5) quarterback prospects. If the Titans like a player enough to go up this year and can leapfrog a division rival with the Indianapolis Colts set to select at No. 4, the risk is very much worth the reward. The run on passers will start right off the top with the Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans before Arizona needs to make their decision on what to do with No. 3.

The San Francisco 49ers traded up to No. 3 in the 2021 draft with the Miami Dolphins to select quarterback Trey Lance. They sent their 2021 (12th), 2022 and 2023 first-round choices, along with a third-round pick in the 2022 draft to Miami. Carthon was notably a part of that Niners staff.

While the Lance trade famously has yet to work out, it does show the bones of what a deal might look like if the Titans decided to make a similar move this offseason.

Cleveland Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett will have a new running partner in that of three-time Pro Bowler Za’Darius Smith.

According to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero, Smith has been dealt from the Minnesota Vikings to Cleveland. As part of the deal, the veteran pass rusher reworked his contract in order to hit free agency following the 2023 season.

Smith, 30, has long been on the trade block after requesting his release from the Vikings earlier this offseason. He spent only one year in Minnesota, recording 24 quarterback hits and 10 sacks en route to earning a third career trip to the Pro Bowl.

Given Smith’s previous request and Minnesota’s cost-cutting ways, the Vikings received pennies on the dollar for such a highly productive player. Here’s how it breaks down:

  • Browns get: Za’Darius Smith, 6th and 7th round picks in 2025
  • Vikings get: 5th-round pick in 2024, 5th-round pick in 2025
A fourth-round selection of the Baltimore Ravens back in 2015, Smith has morphed into one of the most consistent pass rushers in the game. The expectation is that he’ll join Garrett to form an elite duo in Cleveland. Fellow former Pro Bowler Jadeveon Clowney never really worked out in that role for the Browns.
