Tiger coming off a 9 week lay off and first Tourney since his dad died and Fathers day is Sunday.

I think he will be tough to beat I think he really wants this bad

I'd say Scott has a fair shot of winning this week. He's been playing very solidly and of the longer hitters he is probably the straightest - a good combination for the course. Whilst i like Furyk as a player this course is too long for him so I'd take Scott in most match ups including against Furyk.

Lefty has an outstanding chance and at 7.8/1 isn't unbackable.

Tiger over 72 +125 looks good to me also. Should Open conditions compare to the previous opens at Winged Foot(1959, 1974 and 1984) then this years field will be in for one seriously tough week.

Word is the rough is high, the fairways narrow, and the greens fast..

most of the lines i liked are gone, but i like toms -125 over harrington (pinny) and stephen ames to make top ten +450 at golfing gods.

also like a outright bet on tiger above +550..... hope phil doesn't kill me yet again

But the first cut of rough should not be that tough as it has in the past

This week the US Open returns to Winged Foot on the outskirts of New for the first time they are properly grading the rough so that missing it by a few feet does not incur the same penalty as missing it by 10 yards. This is a relatively big deal and one that brings another posse of players into the frame.

As Tiger Woods has been on a nine-week break after the death of his father, this is the most open Open in modern memory. And certainly fairer than in the past, when Winged Foot ritually embarrassed the day's leading players, who cut themselves badly on its sharpest, toughest edges.

It was after one particularly harsh round that finished with players such as Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus edging their way towards a 10 handicap that the media tried to savage the way the course had been set up.

Here is one I just jumped on.

Appleby to make the cut. NO +190

Appleby is having some serious back problems. He has been treating it but has not gotten better.

Appleby has missed the cut 6 out of the last 7 US Opens.

Good Luck

Furyk is hurt. Inside info. Check out my US Open Thread. Winners for tomorrow will be tough. After that, matchups could be easy.

with the wind up todays scores may be horrific. I'm sure they'll water the greens overnight otherwise we may ned up with a +6 winning score.
