DAYTON –4½ over Akron<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
Line appears a bit soft and we’re always curious when we see a line that may look a bit too good to be true. That’s just our perspective and perhaps this line doesn’t look soft to others. You see, the Zips are 5-2 and have won five of their past six games. Akron is also the MAC’s best offensive team, averaging more then 77 points a game. Meanwhile, the Flyers are just 5-3 and really haven’t beaten anyone at all. Having said that, we see a Zip team that hasn’t beaten anyone either and has been off for a full 11 days due to exams. Furthermore, Akron has five freshmen (three true) and three sophomores. Three of the Zips starters are underclassmen and the other two are juniors. Meanwhile, Dayton has reeled off four in a row since losing by just 10 to the Bearcats and are fresh off a home win over Northwestern St. three days ago. In that game against the 24th ranked Bearcats, the Flyers led at halftime and they trailed by just three with four minutes to go. That game, despite losing, seems to have ignited the Flyers big time and they haven’t lost since. Dayton, too, is a very young team, however, they appear to be headed in the right direction and they’re playing with a ton of confidence. With 11 days off between games and Christmas break coming up after this game, the Zips are in real danger of being rusty tonight and with that in mind, we’ll lay the points. Play: Dayton –4½ (Risking 1.65 units to win 1.5).<o></o>

BYU +1.20 over WEBER ST.<o></o>
One of the angles we always look for is team’s coming off significant losses and the Cougars are coming off a nine-point loss to 13th ranked N.C. State. This squad has also played the likes of No. 12 North Carolina, Utah St, USC, Stanford, California and Washington St. to name a few. In other words, their schedule has been about 20 times tougher then Weber State’s. Sure, the Cougars are just 2-8, however, they’ve hung tough with some strong opposition and have a great chance to get into the win column again tonight. That lost loss had to give this team a sense of satisfaction. The outcome was no surprise, considering the 16th-ranked Wolfpack will contend for a championship in the powerful Atlantic Coast Conference, the best domestic league this side of the NBA. If that game doesn’t propel them, nothing will. The Wildcats are a bad team, period. Surely, they’re the inferior squad here playing in the weak Big Sky conference. They sit at 4-5 at the moment with two of their four wins coming against Elon University. The other two victories have come against Utah Valley St and Albertson. They also lost to Utah Valley St by 13 in their last contest. Cougars have had a rough start and perhaps it’s the reason they’re getting a take-back here. Whatever the case, we know for sure that we’re on the right side here and will let the chips fall where they may. Expect said chips to fall in our direction. This line is out of whack, jump on it early. Play: BYU +1.20 Risking 1.5 units).
