I saw 1.8 million come together in the cold just before the Iraq war, it was simply incredible. That is one place where people are so proud of their relatively new democracy that they all vote and so proud of their right to protest and speak freely that was taken away for so long that they do it quite often. If only people in this country and our 50% voter participation and our amazement when a thousand people march in protest learned from what others do, we would all gain a greater respect for how lucky we are.
