Why would the RX be liable to pay a personal loan?

They aren't. But i think it would be a good gesture to help facilitate a situation where an RX contest had money problems and be part of the resolution.

Espeically if it is just paying Defy the money that they are already paying BAS.

I do have a silver lining though, at the rate we're going BTC might be worth so little that Defy would've just lost the 30 either way.

If $30k can make such a difference in your life, then you shouldn't be lending anyone even $1k.
