Non Covid Years 1998 - 2019 ...last 21 years

Take the leader in MLB in Run-Differential ( This Year Lad 1.6 ) and scroll down

to all the teams that are within 1 Run of the Lad Run Differential of 1.6

All World Series Champions have been within 1 run of the leader in MLB in Run Differential

Teams to eliminate this year that may make playoffs

Sea

Bos

Nyy

St Lou

Only 6 out of the last 21 WS Champions lead baseball in Run Differential

so Lad ...would be a fade this year ..to win WS ..but they can make it there....

Lad won the WS in Covid Year ...easily with the best run diff last year with a 2.3

but I'm not using the Covid year

Last Champ to lead baseball in run differential and won WS ...was 2016 Cubs ( barely in 7 games )

13 out of the last 21 years ... the leader in run differential did not even make the World Series ,,,,hmmmm....

I worked in records vs above .500 teams over the last 20 years

and along with above stats

So Far ...this what I lean toward

My WS Match-ups

Hou / Milw

Hou / Sf

Hou / Lad

Sf / Tb

Sf / Tor ...if Tor makes it

Lad / Tb

Lad / Tor ...if Tor makes it

Notice .... NO .....Cws / Atl ( -6 below .500 vs above .500 )/ St Lou / Bos / Sea / Nyy

Cool stuff KB. I think it will be a rematch of Dodgers/Rays this year. BUT Dodgers could lose the winner take all WC vs. the Cards if they survive that they're the team to beat in the NL.

I expanded this and added best record
Only 5 teams since 1998 with the best record in baseball won the world series
They all led the league in run differential

1998 Yanks
2007 Red Sox
2009 Yanks
2013 Red Sox
2016 Cubs

That would eliminate Giants

Something even more amazing
Since 1970 12 teams won the World Series with the best record
11 of 12 led the league in run differential
ONLY the 1978 Yankees did not
They were 3rd
Only 1 run difference behind 1 and 2
AMAZING

Giants ARE NOT top 3 in run differential and are number 4 ...59 behind number 1

Not Counting Covid Year 2020

From 2009 to 2019 .... last 11 years

World Series Champion ...their Inter-League Records

2019 Wash ...14-6

2018 Bos ......16-4

2017 Hou .....15-5

2016 Cubs ....15-5

Last 4 Years of Champs all had an 8 game or more Win Advantage vs Inter-League

2015 Kc ........13-7

2014 SF ........10-10

2013 Bos .......14-6

2012 SF .........7-8

2011 St Lou ....8-7

2010 SF .......7-8

2009 Nyy .....10-8

We stop here at 2008 Philly ...they were only 4-11 Inter-league Rec

So last 11 Years of WS Champions ....NONE ...have been more than 1 game under.500

vs Inter-League

Here are the Contenders in 2021 ....Inter-League Records

Bos ... 16-4

Tb ......15-5

Cws .....14-6

SF .......13-7

Lad ....12-8

Nyy ....12-8

St Lou ...11-9

Hou .....9-11....hmmmmmmm

Milw .....8-12 ....ugly

Atl ........6-14 ......the worse

So by above Records ...imo ..only

these teams have a better shot winning it all

TB

Cws .... I'm a fan ...just don't think their starting pitching will hold up ?

Sf

The Last 5 Years ...all champs had a 6 or more win advantage in Inter-League

I lean towards that angle a bit

Let's talk ...anyone ?

If Boston Makes it to the World Series they would be the 1st team to make it to the World Series in the last 21 years that was not within

1 run of the top run-differential team in MLB

Lad Run-Differential 1.7

Boston Run-Differential 0.5

Lad have a PLUS 1.2 Run-Differential

So does the streak end this year with Boston making it to the World Series ????

I really like this team's bats ...we never know

Last 21 Years ....

Only 2 Teams ...out 42 Possible Teams made it to the World Series ...that's 2/42

who were more than 5 Games BELOW .500 ......vs ABOVE .500 Teams

2015 Nym lost in WS to KC .....Mets were 10 Games Below .500 vs above .500 teams

2010 SF Won the WS and they were 8 Games below .500 vs above .500 teams

can be done ... but odds are against any team reaching the WS when they are 5 games or more

below .500 vs above .500 teams

Let's look at a few teams from this years playoffs that were eliminated already

St Louis ... 32-36 vs above.500 teams .......... Gone

White Sox ... 27-29 vs above.500 teams .......... Gone.... I'm a Sox Fan

but I knew this team was not going anywhere .... they had the best starting

pitching era in the MLB ....but by far in the worst division in which that supposedly great staff

pitched most of their games against .... betting against the my team ....made me $$$$

Milw.....32-36 vs above.500 teams .......... Gone....Plus MILW

Lost to yet another team who was below .500 vs above .500 teams

Next Victim this year ..... Atlanta Braves .... they were 31-37 vs above.500 teams .

Now the Braves can shock us and make the WS ....but remember

last 21 years only 2 teams have made it to the WS with 5 or more games below

.500 vs above .500 teams during the regular season

Point # 2 .... in which you guys already know

Last 21 Years

No Team has reached the WS with a run differential that was more than

a Full Run Less than the leader in baseball in Run Differential during the Season

Lad ...led MLB in Run Differential + 1.7

all teams that remain must have at least a + 0.7 Run Differential during the season

Teams remaining ....besides Lad ...in run differential

SF ....+ 1.3

Atlanta + 0.8

Houston + 1.3

then we have the Boston Red Sox ....+ 0.5

Boston is not within a Full Run of the leader Dodgers in run differential

Boston is in a 2/42 spot in reaching the WS .... with this trend

The Last Champion to lead MLB in NON COVID YEAR with Run Differential was Cubs 2016

Last 21 Years ...not counting 2021 Covid Season

Just 5 out 21 Champs led MLB in Run-Differential

Leader this year in Run Differential ...Lad + 1.7

something else I noticed within the numbers ,,,which is a bit of a fluke or is it ?

No Champ in last 21 who led the MLB in Run Differential were above + 1.6 ( Cubs 2016 )

Point # 3

Look at Inter-League Play ... copied from my previous post

Not Counting Covid Year 2020

From 2009 to 2019 .... last 11 years

World Series Champion ...their Inter-League Records

Only team remaining

Sf ........... feel like they can beat La ...never know ?

The Last 5 Years ...all champs had a 6 or more win advantage in Inter-League

Your call guys but if I look over the 3 points above ...I lean

SF vs Houston in the World Series

My Pick for the World Series

San Francisco ..... the loss of Belt though could make a difference

though because all these numbers were with him in the line-up

so careful ....is all.

Only 2 Teams ...out 42 Possible Teams made it to the World Series ...that's 2/42

who were more than 5 Games BELOW .500 ......vs ABOVE .500 Teams

Now ... that's 3 Teams as the Braves reached the World Series

Braves had a record of 31-37 vs above .500 teams

Only 1 Team Won the World Series with 6 or more games Under .500 vs Above .500 teams

in regular season

2010 San Francisco ( WS Champion ) ... with 8 games under .500 vs above .500 teams in reg season

that year they faced Texas ... who was 3 games under .500 vs above .500 teams in reg season

This year

Atlanta 31-37 vs above .500 Teams

does not play another cupcake .... like Texas ( 2010 ...lost to SF with 3 games

under.500 vs above.500 teams in regular season ) ........ they face

The Best Record Team in MLB vs Above.500 Teams this year

the Houston Astros ..... they were 45-32 vs above .500 teams

Not saying Atlanta cannot beat Houston here ..... all I'm saying

is NO TEAM in last 21 years has Won the World Series

with a below .500 record vs above .500 record teams in reg season

if they did not face another team in the World Series that was below .500 vs above .500 teams in the reg season

Never know guys ... anything can happen

but if tailing this angle

Champ

Houston Astros

For me ... I had a nice Future on Houston ....in which I backed up my bet with Atlanta to win ...

...no matter who wins the WS ....I get some money ....

Correction

No Team Won the WS in last 21 years if they were 4 or more games Under .500 vs above .500 teams ( THIS YEAR ATLANTA 6 GAMES UNDER .500 )

if they faced another team in WS that had an above .500 record vs above .500 teams .. Houston this year ...best in mlb ... 13 games over .500 vs above .500 teams ...

I lean to Houston in series. Odd how Atlanta of all teams got in. Maybe a team of destiny. I just think Houston is better overall.

Atlanta played the best ball in the last 3 weeks and out coached the other teams! Should be a good series ! Also numbers change daily so don’t let the numbers mess your mind up
