so Jack1999 there are four official entries correct?
I’m proposing the purse be distributed this way

1st: $500
2nd: $300

or

1st: $600
2nd: $200

just putting this out for comments

only $600 in the pot though to the winner so if you want to pay 2nd would have to be $400/$200. I prefer winner take all but if you all want to pay down to 2nd place we can discuss.

i thought Mr G&T was in as well
with the original three then $600 to the winner is the only fair way to play it back

going to sign off now BHP. But like I said 4 players in so $600 in the pot to the winner only or we go $400/$200 so 2nd place gets paid. IF we had 1 more player then I would favor paying to 2nd but as it stands prefer winner take all. but if you all want to pay place we can discuss. thx.

ok sounds good so actually if we did a $400/$200 split the 2nd place player would win nothing he would just not have to pony up to the victor. But let's just do winner take all so whoever scores has a $600 payday from the other 3 players combined. at $200 a head. thx.

FYI Jack1999 I’ll be playing each of these ten bets with real money, so why not make them my contest plays

michel I really wish you had joined us or taken me on one on one

I’m still up for a head to head match you make ALL the rules

BHP, I would love to participate in a contest that more closely shadows the way the average bettor would bet at the racetrack. I have no interest in the Derby Wars type format. Part of the handicapping process for any track bettor is to determine how to use one's bankroll to deliver the maximum return. The Derby Wars model is way too artificial and simplistic. If you guys enjoy that format (and I'm not saying that you can't or shouldn't) why don't you just go there and play? What am I missing?

I play in sports handicapping contests at the RX every month / season - MLB; NFL; NBA. All participants chip in between $100.00 and $300.00 to play. We usually get about 15 participants. The payoff is usually first and second. I have a lot of fun. So do the other guys.

Several months ago Jack asked me to participate in a board wide contest here on the horse forum. I asked what the stake would be. He said that it would be for bragging rights only. I said that I would participate but that it really wasn't a contest if there was no money to shoot for. I played. We had fun. But there was no money involved so that contest really didn't get my best effort. Honestly, I don't care who the best handicapper on the board is. I wish this was a board where I was the worst handicapper so that I could learn something from the others. Like when I go to the track I want everyone to win. I root for everyone who participates on this board honestly to succeed.

So Jack proposed what you have proposed - a head on contest. Not for me. Then he wanted a contest with limited participation by invite only. I enjoy the camaraderie I have on this board with the other posters. Head to head contests can have a way of screwing that up. Two, three, or four people contests could do the same thing. So I respectfully declined. That's the contest you just won.

So when there is a contest open to boardwide participation and is structured to more closely mirror the mix of things one needs to do to succeed at horse betting that is similar to how one would bet online (Twinspires, NRA, etc) or at the track, I'm in for sure. I'd LOVE to play in such a contest.

Until then, I'll just do my thing here and wish you guys luck. and enjoy you guys on the board the way I always have. Thanks for inviting me.
