We're having a discussion from the same side that nobody can win. Every past and current player talks about his "game preparation". I don't know how this can possibly be trivialized. Especially in the era of free agency. Just this year, conventional wisdom said he fucked their defense (for about the 15th time and counting), yet it's their defense carrying the day yet again.

But I wasn't having a discussion comparing those two in this thread. I was just making the simple statement that I think their defense didn't lead the way in 5/6 of their SB title seasons. I guess it depends what lead the way means, but I'd say their offense was close to equally responsible or more responsible in those years.

Football is a game of synergy though. Every aspect affects the rest. Top CB like that makes it easier to commit resources to the run, other side of the field, etc....
