crazy overvalyued for sure , been that way for a awhile, dont think Buffet is goign to touch this one, lol. its intrinsic value is about $300, haha .....but Elon gonna buy ETH then tweet about it a week later.@)
when it was announced in NOv that it'd be added to the SPY in late Dec the run-up was spectacular (and funds had to buy). Went from $500 to $800, nuts ....The options market that month was CRAZY, i recall a very large short expiration ( a week) OTM call --who the fuck buys a short duration OTM call ??!?...had to knwo shit, doesnt make sense

could get interesting if it wants to test its 200 sma (would be near its March low), lost its 50 sma today.... speaking of the options market, its short term put/call ratio is bearish, loads of puts on it, but not on the longer term

Kathie Wood knows what she's talking about....but Tesla is such a volatile stock w/ it's price swings. Over the next 5 years EVERY car dealer in the world will be pumping out EV's - fully EV's. There's no earthly reason why Tesla stock is $700 right now...so why would it be $3000 in 4 years? It doesn't make sense. But....Kathie Woods knows what she's talking about....

I don't think she knows much of anything, she just rode a massive retail bubble by loading up on all the high beta stocks and then CNBC started covering her like she is some kind of guru. Her entire portfolio is just steam chasing the big names in the hot industries.

A lot of people are rich off the modern bull market, doesn't mean they have any real analysis going for them.

She's 65, where has she been the last 30 years? She just became a guru now?

lol, turn off CNBC

doesnt know much of anything? no real analysis ?

she graduated summa cum laude from USC degree in finance and economics . Worked in the busniess as a portfolio manager for over 20 yrs. Decided to branch off when her employer balked at her idea of a 'disurptive innovation etf' actively managed. She started the company and since inception 5 yr average is 43% for arkk. , 2 crazy good years mixed with blah. Its a niche sector with often high valuations, this aint no minimal volatilty etf.. Looks into companies that maybe 'future' changing .

reversion to the mean, etf was up 152% in 2020 (CNBC got all excited ,red flag ), general rotation to value which was hammered in 2020, her sector is largely out of favor. In addition she got fucked when TOO much monies rolled into the ETF. It has a mandate , and their are only X-amount of stocks in this niche

hammer pattern forming on it on the weekly,( the week is hardly done) at a support level trying to re-claim the 50 sma. IF if closes the week like this? i'd like to see a second hammer pattern the following week with a green body and again above its 50 sma that is a buy . Got to look at the weekly as its downtrending so need the higher time frame for evidence that it maybe reversing to the upside. Dangerous chart as 'look out below ' if the market gets ugly, not a lot of support areas

Feel free to follow her investments and/or tail her then if you think she can provide alpha vs the market. When I say “doesn’t know much of anything”, obviously it’s hyperbole and I just mean I don’t see her as an expert in the subject. That seems obvious enough.

She’s riding a massive retail bubble and all the high beta names, anyone with that strategy has outperformed. It’s just small sample chasing all the hot names. Kids on couches have 100x’d in bitcoin last 5 years, so we wanna follow them going forward?

CNBC/financial media cites her hard so don’t really understand turn off CNBC comment

I only heard about her since like January but not impressed with her body of work ever since.

Buying DraftKings at 57? Coinbase at 300+? Tesla to 3000???

All stocks with valuations that those companies WILL NEVER live up to.

I realize she needs to generate commission so she probably cant sell at the top but still...

cool, she's far from doesnt know anything, lol . Most sectors/niches/managers have their day in the sun, she had a spectacular 2020 . And for an actively managed etf her 5 yr record is numero uno, pretty good alpha. Pretty impresive, and kudos to her. Past performances doesnt equate to future returns .

i wasnt saying to invest in arkk, ur first 7 words were dumb , so i defended her

retail bubble? the whole market seems like a bubble (using various metrics) ..powell's in charge

Yeah, I’m not even trying to diss her but more the financial news media that is always looking to prop up a guru.

Steam chasing growth stocks is obviously gonna work nicely when the fed expands its balance sheet by 150% and deficit spending expands by 400% w interest rates at 0.

DKNG getting interesting tho w recent pullback, that’s a real business w real profits coming unlike a lot of modern IPOs

My average buy price of DKNG is 19 will buy more at 30 (if it gets there)... and sell at 60.

IMO the company will never be THAT profitable ( definitely not scam SPAC). I dont see them ever clearing a billion dollars in profit

Every body looks good on the left side of the Bell curve.

Lets see how she is doing at the bottom of the right side

Why not? They have a license to print $ with mobile betting and it is just going to expand to more and more states. Only issue I really see is if states start giving out too many gambling licenses but DK seems so connected.

As far as the subject of the thread goes, TSLA. I wouldn't buy it but the reason it is so high is because it isn't being valued as a car company. It is a bet on Elon Musk and that he will pull something out of his hat similar to Bezos with AWS, Prime rather than just being an online retailer.

Solar roofs, batteries, battery storage, who knows....Seems optimistic but his cult of personality drives the stock.

what does that mean SD? studies cleraly show that give it enough time and a manager will be humbled, very few can beat the market over an extended period of time. BUT if a manager has a track record on being on the left side of the bell curve (poor performer) more often than not , he/she is less apt to spend more time on the RS for an extended period . In other words, if one is to follow a manager , then follow one with a good track record, seems kinda obvious.

time and place for everything-- high valuation momemtun stocks not the best place to be if powell stops the party , give no fuck who the manager is . he just hints of slowing and long long red candles on the qqq's

he did a great job of side stepping inflation questions a few wed back

I personally think she got lucky. She came along just as the bubble started.
(a complete idiot ( I am not saying she is) would have done well hyping internet stocks between 1995- February 2000)

Now I think she believes her own hype. She is trying to do the same thing that worked before but wont work now.

Just my opinion.

Your mileage may vary...

The good thing about this argument is we will see how things have worked out for her, in a few years

when did the bubble start ? 2015? her etf has been around for 5 yrs man , AVERAGE 43% per pear over this period, holy shit..tough crowd LOL . its not a hedge fund not like they can short

'The good thing about this argument is we will see how things have worked out for her, in a few years'

limitations bro, she really is at the mercy of powell, her niche? cmon man, it will be minimal volality , utilites , value stocks etc if Central Bank policy makes a dramatic chnage, imo. ....... Growth has badly outperformed value for quite some time, what, gotta be a decade or more (too lazy to check). Why has this happned? recessions r not allowed anymore , they try to print their way out of it--the illusion of growth. If Central bank policy changes? maybe it cant, ...maybe we see negative rates in our lifetime .

buffet may start to beat the index if central bank policy chnages, lol

Not sure if this was mentioned anywhere but guessing the real reason Musk ditched Bitcoin is because the environmental footprint would've threatened TSLA's place in ESG funds which is a ton of net buying that he wouldn't wanna lose over a twitter publicity stunt like buying BTC.

Are some people using him? Cause right after the tweet like a quarter trillion left the whole crypto market, not just bitcoin

No way his tweets are that influential

Ehh, don't think there is anything sinister or nefarious behind it. Crypto is very volatile, quarter trillion is around a 10% correction, happens all the time.

He brought up a very legitimate issue (environmental footprint from excessive electricity use in mining) that crypto will have to deal with it.

When TSLA bought BTC, it had the same effect.

A few smart traders are saying that Bitcoin might correct back to 30K.

Some sort of a chart thing.

I think there is something else going on. Chinese are one of the biggest miners of cryptos. There also seems to be some sort of bashing of their cars in China. I think he did it to fuck with China. Good luck with that battle Elon. You may be rich but you will never be able to mess with China...like China can mess with you.
