I forgot about Ty Law and Chris Slade for the 2000 season

Yep. All excellent young defensive players that Belli molded. He brought in Vrabel in free agency too. I loved that Defense.

Added Seymour in 2001. And Wilfolk in 2003. Those defenses were tremendous.

I don't think it's possible to have great defenses like that anymore. They've changed the rules to make it an injury free offensive game.

Willie would never take it as this point.

Bills and Dolphins are actual competition.

Jets might get Watson

And at that point, it would be NE without an actual NFL qb.
Wouldnt that be ironic

BTW Willie I would like some of that action as well. I even throw in any NE playoff wins as a bonus

And Jimmy G leading them to multiple SB's

Maybe he'll take over for Tom in TB, A?

I dont get all the Jimmy G hate.

He has an excellent WL record. And his replacement's is a lot worse.
Now his durability is another question

I am Bills fan, so I am good. But otherwise I would take Jimmy in a heartbeat if he was available and so should Bellichick

One season does not close the books

Brady went to a stacked team

Belichick coached with 8 opt outs (nobody else has > 3) and serious salary cap issues which handicapped him this year and that all goes away in 2021. No opt outs, and they're at the top of the league with respect to cap space next year

Agreed, not sure how people constantly overlook this.

If Jimmy G wants to play for the saints I’m all for it .

He is better than average. And little midget weak arm Brees was nowhere near what he was 3 or more years ago

You stack up the starting QB's in the league, and he's right around the middle IMO. Maybe he's better labeled as a "median-level" QB.

Not sure he is the answer to the Saints annually choking in the playoffs.

The last 3 years Brees was the choker.

Bunch of picks this year. Last year they had 1st and ten at the Vikings 20 and Brees throws a pick. Against the Rams two years ago the last pass he threw was a pick.

Way underperformed compared to regular season

Brees was part of it, but not the sole choker.

Payton made some pretty bad decisions these last few playoff runs as well.

Defense didn't play up to regular season level

Running game couldn't get going

A lot of choking blame to go around.

That 8 COVID opt outs sure is getting mileage, who knew Hightower/Chung/Cannon (who was replaced fine) and 5 jags would be so much to overcome for a coach that is supposedly more valuable than Brady/Rodgers/Mahomes/etc

Nothing to do with mediocre drafts? Meh...

Brady vs Jordan a more interesting debate

c'mon man, that's one whopper of a straw man, it's something beyond a strawman, calling it a strawman is yuuuuuge understatement

and in more than just one way too, that's a compound strawman :)

You think BB has drafted well last 5 years?

You think Hightower/Chung made that big of a diff this year?

What is the strawman? I'd imagine most agree w/ the lions share of content I've posted in this thread at this point. Pegged this shit real nice 99
