Del Mar Lounge at South Point
The Del Mar Lounge is a very large space located directly adjacent to the sports book. It’s a big area that still gets plenty busy during football weekends and March Madness but I’ve always been able to find a comfy spot here. A great spot if you are with a small to moderate sized group. Drink tickets at the adjacent sports book are easy to come by and the South Point generally has good drink specials at any casino bar. There are tons of flat screens at the Del Mar Lounge and the jumbo screen at the sports book is visible from many of the lounge chairs within the lounge.
Extra Points - The South Point is off strip (15 minutes south of Mandalay Bay) so you may not venture out that way unless you are at the M Resort, Silverton, or actually staying at South Point. If you want cheap eats, the 75-cent hot dog cart is only steps away.
Las Vegas Super Book (Westgate – formerly LVH)
The Las Vegas Super Book is the world’s largest and provides a great set up for watching football within their sports book space. On top of that, a separate theater that holds over 1,500 people is opened up on NFL Sundays for the ultimate football viewing party. Parking here is a breeze so you won’t miss any of the football action due to a long walk from a parking structure.
Cheap food & drink in the theater, easy parking access, a large-sized and very comfortable sports book make this spot a winner. The Super Book is also one of the most liberal when it comes to comped drinks – no drink tickets needed, just have your betting ticket(s) visible and the cocktail servers take care of the rest.
Extra Points - The Football Central party on Sundays in the Theater is a non-smoking event. Also, the Fan Cave section at the rear of the sports book is also smoke free and a great place to relax and watch some football. Upgrades to the sports book, including better screens, are on the way. The Super Book continues to be one of our favorite spots.
Mirage Sports Book
The Mirage recently reconfigured things and sports viewing here is amongst the best on the strip. A new jumbo HD screen upgrade adds to the appeal at The Mirage. As big as this place is, it can still get pretty packed so get here early on football weekends. The new HD screens are top notch and The Mirage sports book is still as classy and plush as it was when it opened 25 years ago. Ticket writers are loose with drink tickets – especially if you are tipping.
Extra Points - The Mirage sports book will get really crowded on football weekends and good viewing areas are at a premium. Places for “sports book food” are limited, however a California Pizza kitchen is directly adjacent (no to go orders if you can believe that).
Longbar at The D
The Longbar at The D is just that – the longest bar in Las Vegas. It is also one of the better places to catch a football game, as the sight lines from the bar to the HD flat screens along the wall are excellent. William Hill operates a sports book that is literally a 2-minute walk from The Longbar via the escalator to the second floor of The D, so getting some action down on a game is easy.
Extra Points - The Longbar is a fun place and there is music usually pumping (sometimes very loudly) from the connected casino area. For some tasty and inexpensive grub, walk over to American Coney and order a coney dog to go and take it back to the Longbar and pair it with a beer. It doesn’t get much better than that while watching some football.
Wynn Sports Book
A classy spot and beautifully decorated sports book. The sports book has easy access from level 2 of the parking structure. As with all Wynn related amenities, the service is excellent. Zoozacrackers Deli (they will bring your meal right to your sports book seat) and the drug store café offer great food that you can take back to the sports book. Easy parking access, great customer service, excellent food choices nearby, and an intimate setting makes the Wynn a great spot to watch football. This modern sports book was not built in the “Super Book” mold – it is a large space that still has an intimate feel.
Extra Points - There are large screens for viewing but they are limited compared to other spots – good food is available nearby but pricey to coincide with the upscale Wynn. Seating can be limited on big sports days. Drink ticket availability varies as some ticket writers here are tight, yet others are looser with handing out the free drink tickets.
Palazzo Lagasse’s Stadium
The former location of Jay Z’s 40/40 Club, Lagasse’s Stadium is one of the more unique sports books in all of Las Vegas. The space is a hybrid stadium/lounge set up that caters to an upscale crowd. If you want to impress friends or business associates, Lagasse’s Stadium is the spot…but be prepared to pay for the luxury as per person minimums of up to $100 for couch accommodations are the norm on football weekends.
Extra Points - There are no free drinks for sports bettors. Reservations must be made way in advance to assure seating. Lagasse’s is super-popular and it seems to be perpetually sold out on big sports days so plan ahead.
Book & Stage at Cosmopolitan
Many people know that “Book & Stage” is not only a bar but also a lounge with live music in the evenings. What many don’t know is that this space, located on the first floor of the Cosmopolitan, is a functioning sports book on busy sports days. Sports wagers can be made at a kiosk located at the rear of the bar and there are ample screens within a lounge set up that coincides with the cool vibe of The Cosmopolitan. Book & Stage is jumping during football weekends and March Madness.
Extra Points - The drinks here are top notch and the bartenders have a reputation of being some of the friendliest and most skilled in town. Many people don’t know about the betting kiosk to the rear of the space so long lines are generally not an issue here. No comped drinks, however if you sit at the table top video poker machines and play a little bit, the very friendly bartenders will hook you up with a comp.
Twin Peaks
Twin Peaks is known for its 29-degree beer and yes, it is ice cold. What I enjoyed is that my mug of beer stayed cold throughout my whole meal. There are tons of HD screens at Twin Peaks and spectacular views of the strip as the restaurant is perched above Las Vegas Boulevard.
Extra Points - The food options here are acceptable but you really go to Twin Peaks for the 29-degree beer and of course, the pretty servers. There are no betting kiosks here but the walk to the Planet Hollywood sports book is a short one so the sports betting window is never far away.
Tag Bar at The Quad
Tag Bar within The Quad is centrally located in The Linq District right on the strip. It is a combination sports viewing and video gaming area with a multitude of flat screens throughout. There is a large sports ticker in order to keep track of your sports bets and, as Vegas Chatter recently reported, there is a betting kiosk within Tag so placing a sports bet is a breeze. You will get the Caesars Palace odds/line when making a bet at the kiosk.
Extra Points – You cannot beat the strip friendly location and there are nearly 300 beers on tap at Tag Bar with most under $7. Prefer some cheaper brew? O’Sheas is a short walk away (also within The Linq complex) and draft beer is $3.
The Pub at Monte Carlo
This place has been around awhile and has become a popular spot for sports fans. Plenty of HD flat screens both at the bar area and large dining section provides a great viewing experience. The Pub offers a Liquid Brunch – an all-you-can-eat-buffet for $18, an all-you-can-drink special for $35 and an all-you-can-eat-and-drink buffet for $45, Saturday and Sunday.
Extra Point - The quality of the food and service here was on the decline some time ago but they have changed things up and now the pub is on the upswing – especially with the all-you-can eat and drink options. The Monte Carlo sports book is about a 5-minute walk away from The Pub.
