1/24 - Syr @ Rut

This game is only 5/5.5 - I know the Rack is a tough place to win on the road but come on - The Cuse are (19-1) (4-0 on Road) this year. Rutgers is 7-8 and has lost 5 out of the last 6. Cuse should name the score in this one.

Rutgers just lost to SH by 20 (granted at SH) but this is the same SH team that the Cuse blasted by 25 this year.

Rutgers is only 5-3 at home this year - now the last two games played between these two at the Rack Rutgers won both (68-65 in 03, 82-74 in 02) which is probably why the line is so low - I don't buy it - I think this is an easy double digit win for the orange.

You're right, it does look like an easy win. Syracuse rolls over this team. However, it looks too good and that's a red flag. Remember this game is featured on ESPN and the oddsmakers didn't make a mistake here. They don't post soft numbers in games that are likely going to get quite a bit of action and that action is not coming in on Rutgers. Syracuse is one of the best teams in the nation, no question about that, while Rutgers is average at best. Why then, is this line so cheap, you noticed it, I noticed it and so will thousands of others.
Looks like a trap to me and I'm staying away. Line will move up for sure as every sqaure will be on this game. I'd proceed with extreme caution if I were you.

I hear ya Sherwood - Just think this years SYR team is too loaded for Rutgers Rack to play into tonights outcome.

Since losing to Oklahoma State in the Jimmy V Classic on 12/7, the Orange have won 12 straight and can tie the 1979-1980 squad for best start in school history after 21 games. Boeheim is well aware of the teams troubles in past games at the Rack - they will be motivated and play well tonight.

I like syracuse by games end to win by double digits, BUT be careful as thius is an ESPN game and Rutgers will play well most of the game being on ESPN and at home. They ALWAYS play Syracuse well and have these games circled on their calander as MUST WIN games. Be careful here might be a trap game.

SUNJ also has 2 very streaky 3 point shooters that can bust a zone up in a hurry. If The red knights get hot from 3, which they can do, 'Cuse could be down early and fight to get back in the game the entire 2nd. That's why betting Rutgers is a coin flip, when they hit 3's they can roll to the NIT finals, when they're not they get rolled by 30. That being said I always like this team as a home dog for some reason.

Do you mean Scarlett Knights,lol?? Yes they can drain 3's and if they are on they can stay with Syracuse but 40 minutes is a long time to stay on. Syracuse pull away late and cover!

Maybe this game calls for a system that I use when games like this appear.

1 unit Rutgers +3 1st half
.5 units Syracuse -5 for the game
and plan on betting the cuse in the second half for .5 units.


I have always done this system with team that I expect to come out slow and pull away in the second half. If things dont work out most likely you end up breaking even.

What do you guys think?

I Agree. This Game Looks Too Easy. Most Of The Time These Are Games To Stay Away From. With That Said.

I had the same play with cuse second 1/2. Love the start with 9-0 run. Lets hope they make it a game so the second 1/2 cover will be easy.

Unfortunately for me, I'm on Rutgers tonight. It is hard to believe a team can collapse like this. I have been on so many games lately where teams have blown 15-20 point leads and lost straight up. UConn on Saturday comes to mind. FU Rutgers.
