I see your point Joe. And I agree with your method of team building.

But what happened to that Buffalo D? They are crap right now. And Josh, who I love, has become very inconsistent. I think Cincy woulda whooped them badly on Monday. And I think they get stifled this year again. The way they came out of the gate this year I thought they were the class of the league. But they've regressed badly as the season has progressed. Losing Von Miller hurt alot but that is far from their only Defensive problem.
Disagree with almost every point.

Injuries on D is a big problem. Damar wasn't an even a starter, and Von Miller is a huge blow. And yes, Allen has been inconsistent, with Diggs almost carrying the entire load.

No excuses, it is what it is..

Having said that, they're 12-3. Maybe they rally and "Win it for Damar!" now...maybe not.

As for Cincy, I fully expected that game to come down to the last possession, like those great KC/Buff games. Josh Allen always saves his best performances for under the bright lights and would have shown JoeyB who's Boss. lol

Trading for Hill was a no brainer while Tua was on his rookie deal. If he can't stay healthy then he can't stay healthy, shit happens. Phins have been rebuilding forever before that but you gotta give him best chance possible to succeed. They had a pretty nice offense when Tua was healthy this year.

Eagles did the same thing with AJ Brown/Hurts (who had proven slightly more than Tua at best) and now they're the #1 seed in the NFC. Go back and watch Philly/Tampa playoff game last year, Hurts legit looks like he doesn't belong in the league and they still said fuck it, let's try to win with him. No gamble, no future.

If you don't have 1 of the top 3-4 QB's then most of what you try to do isn't gonna work, but you can't keep rebuilding forever. It is a business, not a simulation.

Dolphins also kinda got screwed on that Flores thing. Got on the bad side of the league and they took a 1st rd pick under the guise of "tampering" with Payton/Brady, which obviously is just stuff that happens all the time.

Of course you do.

You're a Jets fan, and the lack of championship hardware is living proof.
Nope. Best running game in the game mostly due to the quarterback and you guys call hom inconsistent? Idk what you're watching. Think you're on point with the injuries on defense. Miller was maybe 3rd best on the DL with Rousseau on one end.

Von Miller was either qb rush factor or zero. Wouldn't stay in pursuit. They might be better off without him. If they get Poyer and Hyde back there in the playoffs you'll be thinking oh there's that defense.

With or without Tua, the Dolphins were losing. He's not a franchise QB.

Now they're gonna go for broke and open fault and throw 75m (or whatever) at Lamar, which will also fail spectacularly.

The NFL isn't Euro soccer or even the Dodgers and Yankees where you can throw unlimited amounts of money at every position.

With the exception of the NBA where your star players are practically on the court the entire game, the "get rich quick" model doesn't work in North American sports with a salary cap.

Allen has always been inconsistent despite his improvements. He can look like arguably the best QB in the league some times, then below average other times. It's very rare to see a string of great games from him, and that's always been the case.

His decision making has always been questionable, he's not as accurate as other top guys. He has physical gifts but I don't think he always uses them to the best of advantage. A lot of factors I think contribute to inconsistency, but I think far and and away the reason is he is simply asked to do too much

Bills are hard to beat when they are winning in the trenches and guys like Singletary are giving you something. But if their run game (outside of Allen) is neutralized at all, they are extremely ordinary.

Defensively I think injuries have hindered them quite a bit, though I still think they have a good enough defense to make a run.

I think Bengals would have won the game Monday night based on how things were looking early as well as I think the Bengals are the slightly better team right now playing at home, but obviously impossible to tell.

This is just survivorship bias, Eagles did the same thing with AJ Brown. Once Tua is on the team, he's sunk cost and you should try to put him in a position to succeed.

If the Dolphins could trade for Allen or Mahomes, I'm sure they would.

What you want the Dolphins to keep rebuilding? They've been rebuilding since this site started and that's not even a joke.

Allen had an injury too and the guy played through it. If Beane is so smart why don't he draft a running back bigger than Yosemite Sam offense is on Allen's back. If he stays healthy that's a good place to be.

They should get Eli Mitchell in the offseason from the 49ers

He'll probably be on market

They'd get to the Bengals. Cincinnati is too pass dependent to win it all

Did Tyreek really work out though? Based on the price they paid?

I thought for sure KC would take a few steps back, and they haven't missed a beat. And now they're going to reap the rewards of all that draft capital (assuming they draft and develop properly).

My only response to your Diggs comparison is, you don't make those kinds of trades without a proper foundation. The Dolphins didn't have Josh Allen and one of the best defenses in the NFL. So Diggs is the missing piece, so to speak. Whereas the Dolphins tried the "get rich quick" path - trying to wheel and deal their way to a solid foundation and championship.

In my opinion, that doesn't work. Worse, having "gone for it", they might miss the playoffs without anything to show for it (all those futures and draft capital gone to other teams).

Slow and steady wins the race. Draft and develop properly, then fill in the missing pieces via trades/FAs.

The Buffalo Bills finally got it right with Brandon Beane.

Do you see my point?
The Bills traded for Diggs in 2020. Josh Allen had only played 2 seasons prior to that. In Allen's 2nd season, he threw for 58.8% completion percentage, 20 TD Passes, 9 picks, and an 85.3 QBR

The fins traded for Tyreke in 2022. Tua had only played 2 seasons prior to that. In Tua's 2nd season, he threw for 67.8& completion percentage, 16 TD passes, 10 picks, and a QBR of 90.1.

Pretty similar between the QB's after the first 2 seasons and each team gave up first round picks to get a star WR. The bills gave up the 20th pick in the draft in 2020 (i am off a few picks) and the dolphins gave up the 31st pick in 22 (i may be off a few). The fins also had to give up later round picks as well but I would rather have Tyreke over Diggs. Also after 2019, we didnt know that Josh Allen was going to be an awesome QB. Bring in Diggs, and Allen now is an Elite QB. Tua was becoming very good this year (but not elite).

Fins also traded for Bradley Chubb at the trade deadline. They gave up a 1st round pick (would be San Frans pick) so we're looking 25th pick or later and they gave up Chase Edmonds who was a free agent signee who cant catch a cold.

The dolphins also have an owner who know jack squat about football. Good guy, spends $$, but has NO CLUE how to run a team

Didnt the Rams win the super bowl last year with the "get rich quick" model?

You can't just compare 2 yrs of Allen vs 2 of Tua because Allen brings major game changing rushing, but it is also true that in March 2020 (fun month, eh?) nobody really knew or thought Josh Allen would be joining Mahomes in the tier 1 category anytime soon. Just like no one knew Hurts would be an MVP candidate this year.

You gotta give these guys the best chance to succeed if you're gonna invest 3-4 years + top 5-10 draft pick in them.

If Tua was good/could stay healthy then obviously giving him a game changing elite WR would be a great move.

That made me laugh but sadly I was on here (not as a poster) in the early 00's when they had Ricky, Zach, and Jason Taylor in their prime

The Bills defense I assume you mean?

I agree in that I wish Bengals ran the ball more, but I do think the offensive line has improved tremendously in run game

Offensive line had good leverage on Monday night but obviously there was a lot of football to be played

Tua won his first 8 games this year that he both started and finished (he was looking good vs cincy)

Played like shit vs SF and LAC

Played very well vs Buff

Played awesome the 1st half vs GB before the concussion

They're a dime a dozen every year in the draft. Never knew Buffalo not to have a workhorse rb.
