Monday Opinion/Possible Best Bet
Gonzaga (-7 ½) over St. Mary’s
Rotation #520 – 6 pm Pacific
Gonzaga applies to a very strong 51-9-1 ATS conference tournament final situation and a 142-53-4 ATS situation, but the line has gone up from 6 points to 7 ½ points and I’m not willing to give up that much line value to make the Zags a Best Bet. St. Mary’s got star point guard Patti Mills back last night for their game with Portland and my ratings favor Gonzaga by just 6 ½ points using only St. Mary’s games with Mills playing. Mills was a bit rusty shooting the ball (3 for 12 from the field) but he reportedly was shooting the ball very well in practice this past week so I can not assume he’s struggle again tonight. The situation is so strong that I’m willing to give up some line value, but I’d only take Gonzaga in a 2-Star Best Bet at -7 points or less (3-Stars at -6 or less). I’ll still lean with Gonzaga at -7 ½ or -8 points based on the very strong situation.

The Lakers have made it look easy twice this season against the visiting Blazers, but it’s a whole different story tonight at the Rose Garden where Portland is 26-5 SU this year. At home, the Blazers have taken six straight and 12 of the last 14 versus Los Angeles. As a home dog in this rivalry, the Blazers are on a 13-3 ATS run. Not taking anything with the way Kobe and Gasol have been playing of late, but the Lakers are just 1-3 both SU and ATS in their last four roadies including losses of 11 at Denver and seven at Phoenix. After L.A. in the West, the next eight teams are all jammed together tight and every game is of most importance. Big statement game for Brandon Roy Portland this eve and the Blazers win this one outright.

Two of the top three paced teams in WCC hook up again for the 3rd time. The Zags scored 72 and 69 against the same team this year. I think we get at least 72 tonight from the Zags tonight. As long as the Zags control the pace this should be a good game. St. Mary's has shot awful against them this year so hopefully they get out of that funk and drop 70 too.
Charleston -2
Charleston already beat this team at Chat. this year by 9 points. Does that mean anything? Absolutely not....but this is weird. Chatt. controlled the game in almost every % for shooting:
52% FG, 10-20 50% 3PT, and they shot 7 more foul shots. So how did they lose???? Tons of turnovers and being outrebounded. Charleston has been on fire and is one of the better road teams in the country. Chatt. had a cake walk to the championship and will be out coached....in my opinion.
Siena over 153
Last 4 meetings: 178, 172, 185 and 147(siena put up 82 of those). I have to take a chance with the 2 of the top 50 paced teams in NCAA.
