Sportsbooks regularly offer inflated odds on certain betting options. This type of promotion is known as an odds boost.
They fall into two broad categories – odds boosts used as a welcome bonus, and odds boosts offered to customers on an ongoing basis. Read on to learn more about these exciting offers.
Odds Boost Welcome Bonus
DraftKings is currently offering a very attractive sign-up bonus. It will allow you to wager $1 at odds of 100/1 (+10000) on either team scoring in an NFL, NBA, college football, or college basketball game.
This offer is only available to new customers. You must deposit at least $5 into a new account to qualify.
You will then be able to choose any game to bet $1, and you will receive $100 if either team scores a point. At least one team scores in every football or basketball game, so this essentially amounts to $100 in free credit.
The $100 is divided into four Bonus Bets worth $25 each. These Bonus Bets come with a 1x playthrough requirement attached, and any winnings you then earn will be paid in cash.
DraftKings has offered lots of similar promotions this year. For example, new customers could bet $1 at 100/1 on a punch being thrown in a UFC bout or on a 3-point field goal being made in an NBA game.
FanDuel is now starting to follow suit. These bonuses are always very appealing. Your winnings will always be paid in Bonus Bet credit, but you can earn cash if those bonus wagers are successful.
Ongoing Odds Boosts
This is the most common form of odds boost. The sportsbooks offer improved odds on a variety of different markets each day.
At DraftKings, there is a specific “Odds Boosts” tab. FanDuel has a “Boosts” icon near the top left of the homepage, accompanied by a lightning bolt icon. BetMGM refers to them as “Lion’s Boosts”.
The concept is always the same. The sportsbook will come up with specific betting options and offer improved odds.
FanDuel is great for odds boosts because it tells you what the odds were, and what they are being boosted to. It also opts for sensible markets, such as Kevin Kisner to finish top 20 at the RSM Classic, boosted from +250 to +300.
BetMGM tends to offer boosts on props and parlays. For example, you might find boosted odds of +155 on the Pacers, Hawks, and Nets all to win their games, or Central Michigan to win and both teams to score 20-plus points in a college football game against Ball State.
You are often limited in the amount that you can wager at the boosted odds, so it is worth checking any terms and conditions.
You will be paid out in cash when you claim these odds boosts, so your winnings will not be subject to any rollover requirements.
Profit Boosts
Some sportsbooks also offer profit boosts on certain sports or leagues. For example, you might find a promotion whereby a sportsbook is offering a 10% profit boost on winning NFL wagers on a particular day.
Once again, there are typically limits to the size of the wager you can place, or limits on the size of the extra winnings you can earn, but these offers are always worth claiming.
Lots of sportsbooks provide boosted parlay payouts too. For example, you might get 5% extra on a parlay with three legs, 10% extra on a parlay with four legs, 15% on a parlay with five legs, and so on.
