Breaking Down The Washington State Cougars
The Washington State Cougars have really come out of nowhere to have a very strong season. They started their year with a shocking loss to Eastern Washington of the FCS and then followed that up with a 31-28 loss at Boise State, but since then that have reeled off 8 straight wins in a row. On their resume so far they have an 18 point win over Oregon, a 26 point road win over Stanford and in their last two games they have outscored Cal and Arizona by a combined 125-128. They are rolling and on a collision course with Washington for the right to represent the Pac-12 North in the title game. The Cougars have been led this year by Luke Falk, who has thrown for 3610 yards on the year, with 33 TDs and just six INTs. He has been the best QB in the league this year, but will be taking on a very good Buffaloes defense in this one. The Cougars come in ranked 8th in the nation in total offense, 2nd in passing, 112th in rushing and 8th in scoring, putting up 44.3 ppg. This is a very good offense, but they have also played good defense for the most part. They have struggled vs the pass as they are 114th in that department, but overall they are 50th in yards allowed 20th vs the run and 43rd in points allowed, giving up 24.3 ppg. They are facing a decent passing team and if they can’t stop it then they could be in for a long afternoon.
Breaking Down The Colorado Buffaloes
The Colorado Buffaloes have been the doormat of the Pac-12 for the last few years, but that has not been the case this year as they are 8-2 overall and lead the south division of the Pac-12 with a 6-1 record. They came in as a loaded team this year with a lot of experience and it all has paid off so far. The Buffaloes have won their last four games in a row and have outscored those opponents by 16 ppg. The Buffalos have really been led by their defense this year as they come in ranked 11th in the nation in total yards allowed, 10th vs the pass, 29th vs the run and 9th in points allowed, giving up just 17.9 ppg. That defense has been even tough of late as they have allowed just 13.8 ppg over their last four games. It will be severely tested in this game and vs this passing attack. If they hope to win the game then they really need to slow Luke Falk down. On offense they must have a strong outing in their passing game which ranks 39th in the nation as they will be taking on one of the worst pass defenses in the nation. Overall the buffaloes are 33rd in total offense, 37th in rushing and 35th in scoring, putting up 35.2 ppg.
Trends: The Cougars have gone 9-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and 11-2 ATS in their last 13 games following a ATS win. The Over is 16-5-1 in their last 22 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game, while the Under is 5-2 in their last 7 games in November.
The Buffaloes have gone 13-3 ATS in their last 16 games overall and 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games on grass. The Under is 6-1 in their last 7 home games.
