The initial hype surrounding the future potential of Brazil’s Johnny Walker has unquestionably died down since his UFC debut.
After arriving in the promotion with a 14-3 professional record and fourteen stoppages, when Walker finished his first three opponents inside a UFC octagon, many speculated a future champion was in our presence.
However, when the competition level raised and the losses arrived, critics speculated that Walker’s decision to train with John Kavanagh at SBG Ireland negatively impacted his gameplay. Now fighting with a less aggressive style, the Brazilian-born brute has gone 1-3 in his previous four contests.

Jamahal Hill, like his opponent this weekend, is a new generation of UFC light heavyweight, and the 30-year-old striker is extremely impressive when considering his in-cage octagon time.
Hill made his professional MMA debut a mere five years ago. Upon his arrival to the UFC roster, he’s managed to secure significant victories over the likes of Ovince St. Preux and Jimmy Crute.
Returning to the octagon for his first UFC main event slot, there’s no doubting the Chicago-born star will be attempting to make his name unforgettable.
Walker vs. Hill Fight Analysis and UFC Vegas 48 Betting Odds
Top-rated sportsbooks are heavily in favor of Hill with a -240 price tag, and although the downtrend of Walker has been evident, we cannot wholly discredit the potential of him righting his wrongs.
One thing is for sure, both fighters are likely to engage in a stand-up war, as they equally own a non-existent grappling offense within their UFC bouts thus far.
With a five-round war ahead of Walker and Hill, wagering on the over 1.5 rounds supply’s a more tempting price at DraftKings rather than anticipating a victor. I expect caution from both ends, and should one man find the knockout button; I don’t believe it’ll take place early in the fight.
UFC Pick: Over 1.5 Rounds (-140) at DraftKings
Kyle Daukaus vs. Jamie Pickett
UFC Catchweight Bout
Saturday, February 19, 2022 – 09:30 PM EST at UFC Apex
- – Professional MMA Record: 10-2-0
- – Knockout Record: 0-0
- – Submission Record: 8-0
- – SIG Strikes Landed Per Minute: 3.19
- – SIG Strike Accuracy: 66.35%
- – Takedown Average: 1.88
- – Takedown Accuracy: 27.59%
- – Submission Average: 1.88
Philadelphia’s own Kyle Daukaus will make his fourth walk to the UFC octagon following a 1-2 record for the company. With that in mind, we shouldn’t overlook his chance of victory on Saturday because he was fed to the wolves when matched with hot prospects Brendan Allen and Phil Hawes.
Daukaus is primarily a grappler, which becomes apparent when you realize he doesn’t own a single knockout during his 12-fight professional MMA career. Jiu-jitsu is his game, and those unfortunate enough to end up in grappling exchanges rarely succeed versus his high-level BJJ offense.
- – Professional MMA Record: 13-6-0
- – Knockout Record: 9-1
- – Submission Record: 0-2
- – SIG Strikes Landed Per Minute: 3.02
- – SIG Strike Accuracy: 52.28%
- – Takedown Average: 1.68
- – Takedown Accuracy: 50.00%
- – Submission Average: 0.21
Jamie Pickett’s introduction to the UFC didn’t go to plan, losing his first two bouts within a five-month time frame. However, the 33-year-old middleweight has bounced back positively, exceeding expectations by equalling his UFC record to 2-2.
Now, riding a two-fight win streak, Pickett has the opportunity to ride his momentum and make a statement under the co-main event spotlights.
Daukaus vs. Pickett Fight Analysis and UFC Vegas 48 Betting Odds
The available UFC Vegas 48 odds at DraftKings favor Daukaus and his grappling ability, but in Pickett’s previous contest versus Joseph Holmes, he showed a wrestling ability of his own.
-280 on Daukaus is absurd, and if I were forced to pick a side, it would be a dog or pass situation. However, because Pickett hasn’t been stopped via submission for over five years, the odds on Daukaus to win by submission are too tempting to pass up.
UFC Pick: Daukaus to Win by Submission (+250) at DraftKings
