Clay Guida vs. Leonardo Santos

UFC Lightweight Main Card Bout

Saturday, December 4, 2021- 9:05 PM EST at UFC Apex Center

Clay Guida

  • Professional MMA Record: 36-18-0
  • Knockout Record: 6-2
  • Submission Record: 14-8
  • SIG Strikes Landed Per Minute: 2.53
  • SIG Strike Accuracy: 48.24%
  • Takedown Average: 3.24
  • Takedown Accuracy: 38.27%
  • Submission Average: 0.66

We’ve had the pleasure of watching Clay ‘The Carpenter’ Guida compete in the UFC octagon for sixteen long years. A genuine legend of the sport, Guida’s most impressive attribute is the fact he’s still competing on UFC main card events following such a brutal fighting career.

Guida owns victories over Nate Diaz, Anthony Pettis, Rafael Dos Anjos, and BJ Penn – three of which are former champions. Guida’s experience and grit are undeniably elite despite never claiming a championship of his own.

Leonardo Santos

  • Professional MMA Record: 18-5-1
  • Knockout Record: 3-2
  • Submission Record: 9-0
  • SIG Strikes Landed Per Minute: 2.65
  • SIG Strike Accuracy: 55.22%
  • Takedown Average: 1.07
  • Takedown Accuracy: 29.17%
  • Submission Average: 0.31

Training alongside the main event star of the evening, Jose Aldo, Nova Uniao product Leonardo Santos will be heavily prepared to face the savvy veteran skills of Clay Guida.

Santos boasts a 7-1 UFC record, but his lack of professional competition since joining the UFC in 2013 has prevented his true potential. Now aged 41, can the heavy-handed submission expert make a serious run in the lightweight division?

Guida vs. Santos Fight Analysis

The game plan for Guida isn’t likely to alter; he enjoys pressuring his opponents with a barrage of strikes to hunt for a takedown eventually. However, Santos’ well-versed grappling skillset isn’t going to allow Guida to outscore him in a wrestling war for three rounds.

Santos has a slick striking offense, with Brazilian jiu-jitsu credentials that could jeopardize the takedown attempts from Guida. The counter striking of Santos will dictate the striking battle; in a contest, I envision the betting favorite coming out on top.

Jimmy Crute vs. Jamahal Hill

UFC Light Heavyweight Main Card Bout

Saturday, December 4, 2021- 9:05 PM EST at UFC Apex Center

Jimmy Crute

  • Professional MMA Record: 12-2-0
  • Knockout Record: 5-1
  • Submission Record: 4-1
  • SIG Strikes Landed Per Minute: 4.26
  • SIG Strike Accuracy: 62.05%
  • Takedown Average: 4.97
  • Takedown Accuracy: 80.00%
  • Submission Average: 2.07

Jimmy Crute’s previous outing versus Anthony Smith isn’t a visual for the faint-hearted, as we witnessed an eye-watering foot injury that eventually caused the referee to stop the contest. However, despite this horrific injury, Crute’s wrestling skill set still managed to take Smith down, and up until the stoppage, Crute was winning the contest.

Crute is a rising UFC light heavyweight star with a 4-2 record; alongside his BJJ black belt and imposing ground game, he possesses the knockout power with the potential to crumble the

Jamahal Hill

  • Professional MMA Record: 8-1-0
  • Knockout Record: 4-1
  • Submission Record: 0-0
  • SIG Strikes Landed Per Minute: 7.50
  • SIG Strike Accuracy: 52.40%
  • Takedown Average: 0.00
  • Takedown Accuracy: 0.00
  • Submission Average: 0.00

Another rising star in Jamahal Hill was also on the wrong end of a stomach-turning injury during his previous bout. A dislocated arm thanks to Paul Craig’s vicious jiu-jitsu offense gave the referee no choice but to call the fight off.

Hill is known for his striking offense; an extremely long frame and monstrous reach advantage over the opposition is a usual advantage for the knockout artist.

Crute vs. Hill Fight Analysis

Styles make fights, and the matchmaking for the said bout is intriguing. Hill will be hunting for Crute’s chin whilst Crute will be looking for a grappling war.

It isn’t complex to break down; you either have faith in Hill’s striking prowess or Crute’s relentless takedown offense. I’ll side with the latter, as I believe Crute can stand with Hill long enough to disguise his incoming shots and eventually drag Hill onto the ground with a submission finish in mind.
