Marina Rodriguez vs. Michelle Waterson
UFC Women’s Strawweight Bout
Saturday. May 8, 2021 at Apex Centre
This week’s UFC main event was in turmoil, but we finally received the main card bout order at the last minute, and the headline fight was confirmed. The problem is, how many rounds are we going to see? Three or five? I still have no idea, so please be hesitant when betting on this contest.
Marina Rodriguez has been a force to be reckoned with. The Brazilian native is well known for her muay thai striking and near unblemished record. I say “near” because former champion Carla Esparza was lucky to escape with a split decision win.
Michelle “Karate Hottie” Waterson is a lifelong martial arts practitioner with a vast amount of experience. With that said, her karate background does not win fights; Waterson often finds success in using a grappling based style. Of course, we’re going to hear the experts mention Waterson’s striking offence and wide karate stance, but she isn’t excellent at utilising those skills.
I worry for Rodriguez across five rounds, but at the same time, I fear for Michelle’s face receiving the nasty striking offence that her opponent has on tap. Rodriguez is everything you want in a fighter, and should Michelle decide to stand and bang, it could be an early night for the “Karate Hottie”.

Donald Cerrone vs. Alex Moron
UFC Welterweight Bout
Saturday. May 8, 2021 at Apex Centre
Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, owning the most UFC wins in history, the most UFC finishes in history, his legacy has already been certified. He doesn’t excel in one particular area of the fight game; he shines everywhere. The age, miles, and damage have certainly caught up, but there is no doubt this man will be talked about for decades to come.
Alex Morono has the arduous task of potentially sending a legend into retirement. A four-fight losing streak for Cerrone has been brutal to witness, and anybody with a soul would not want to be in this position. With that said, a significant win for Morono could undoubtedly boost his UFC stock.
It’s challenging to overlook Cerrone, and I say this with extreme content. Tony Ferguson, Justin Gaethje, Conor McGregor & Anthony Pettis are elite competition; Morono is not yet proved to be on this level. No disrespect to Morono, but we have to give Cowboy a great chance at winning this fight.

Ryan Benoit vs. Zarrukh Adashe
UFC Flyweight Bout
Saturday. May 8, 2021 at Apex Centre
To cut a long story short, if Zarrukh Adashev fails to knockout Ryan Benoit, his lack of experience will fail him.
Ryan Benoit has been a professional martial artist since 2009 and has spent his time competing in the UFC for the best part of eight years. The power in Benoit’s hand has been evident; even with a lack of fight’s finished by knockout, the level of opposition for Benoit has been top tier. Especially when comparing that to his opponent.
As mentioned, I believe that Adashev needs a finish and that is much easier said than done. Benoit has an ugly record, but a significant amount of his fights has been extremely close. I anticipate the perfect opportunity for Benoit to get back on track against a lower level of opposition.
UFC Best Bet: Ryan Benoit to win by decision @ -150 with BetWay [1.50u returns 1u profit]
