UFC 260

Dana White and the UFC have taken a blow to their UFC 260 pay-per-view with the cancellation of Alexander Volkanovski versus Brian Ortega for the featherweight championship.

Luckily, fight fans are still gifted with a rubber match involving the heavyweight championship and two contenders worthy of the lone spotlight. Knockout specialist Francis Ngannou and current UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic.

Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou II

UFC Heavyweight Main Event

 Apex Centre

Stipe Miocic could be one fight shy of claiming complete G.O.A.T status this weekend. As the current UFC champion, he has broken all significant records that qualify him for this title. A firefighter by trade, Miocic back story is truly inspiring, especially when you watch him mopping the floors at work whilst UFC embedded production crew are following him around with their cameras.

His opponent, Francis Ngannou, has been a dominant force since his arrival to the UFC, and he also has a back story that would have your empathic emotions on high alert. From a life where he had very little to survive, dreaming of one day becoming a professional fighter sheds inspiration for African fighters like no other.

Both men are two of the most likeable personalities in the heavyweight division, which always makes watching one of them lose a challenging position to be a fan. You just want to see both fighters live up to their full potential.

Miocic vs. Ngannou Fight Prediction

Given both parties ability to finish a fight, it was surprising to witness their first encounter exceed the 25-minute time limit. The big question is, how much has Ngannou’s grappling defence evolved since he took the unanimous decision loss.

It’s hard to predict how far along Ngannou has progressed; yes, he’s training with wrestling champion and current UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. Still, these training camps are not going to add a lifelong skill to his resume overnight.

Stipe proved he has the blueprint for defeating Ngannou, but the Cameroonian’s power is something special we only get to witness once in a blue moon. Besides Derrick Lewis, nobody in the division holds such force behind their strikes, but it’s the technical aspect of his game that needs improving.

Instead of wondering whether Stipe can secure the single legs for twenty-five minutes, we can take both sides of the board, knowing the path to victory for each fighter is more probable than flipping a coin on the fight winner.

UFC 260 Main Card Prediction

Sean O’Malley vs. Thomas Almeida

UFC Bantamweight Bout

 Apex Centre

The ‘Suga-Show’ returns after his first professional career loss, but we would be lying if the hype behind this young athlete has died because it hasn’t. An admirable fight style and one punch ending power provides O’Malley fans with a highlight-reel career anyone can get behind.

Thomas Almeida was once in a similar position to O’Malley – fans behind him, a title opportunity predicted in his future and some beautiful fight-ending sequences. But a devasting knockout loss to Cody Garbrandt and two years away from the octagon seems to have plagued the muay thai specialist’s progression.

O’Malley vs Almeida Fight Prediction

Sean O’Malley oozes confidence and has the skill level to match, aged just twenty-six; the ceiling for this young prospect is endless.

Excellent footwork, switching of stances, head movement and a plethora of strikes available at his disposal gives me the confidence he’ll return from his first loss in style. Sean O’Malley may even gift us with his third walk-off knockout.

UFC Best Bet: O’Malley to win by TKO/KO @ +175 with Betway [1u returns 1.75u profit]
