Girona FC vs. FC Barcelona

Saturday, January 28, 2023 – 10:15 AM EST at Estadi Montilivi

Girona

In their return to the top flight of Spanish soccer, Girona has surprised critics this season with their current standings – sitting mid-table in the La Liga standings. But more impressively, this team has netted at least one goal from their last 15 domestic games.

This impressive goal-scoring record has also seen both teams score in their previous seven games when competing on home soil, a stadium where Michel’s men have stayed undefeated in five successive games.

We should note that three of their five consecutive undefeated meetings have ended in a tie game, and although the flare of Girona in the final third is impressive, they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet in La Liga meetings this term.

Barcelona

The suspension of Robert Lewandowski could be causing Barcelona more problems than they originally expected. A lackluster 1-0 win over Getafe last weekend should’ve produced many more goals in favor of the home side, on paper at least.

But this result showed holes in Barca’s game, despite collecting three points, and Girona defending their home turf will surely cause the visitors more problems this weekend.

However, Barcelona head coach Xavi has guided his team to six consecutive away games without a loss. And similarly to their weekend opponents, both teams’ scoring has been a common occurrence, with this statistic landing in three of Barca’s previous six away meetings.

Furthermore, they’ve maintained just four clean sheets from their last nine games, so expecting a goal from the home side on Saturday is a viable thought.

Pick and Prediction

With a price tag of -130, and the aforementioned stats and factors revolving around these teams, the value of both teams scoring is a viable betting position.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen vs. Borussia Dortmund

Sunday, January 29, 2023 – 11:30 AM EST at BayArena

Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen has evolved into a team to be reckoned with under the tutelage of Xabi Alonso, who’ll welcome Borussia Dortmund to the BayArena behind a five-game domestic win streak – netting at least two goals during this stretch.

However, the Eternal Bridesmaids will face greater difficulty than they have in recent weeks. Borussia Dortmund won’t allow Leverkusen to have their way, as they’ve collected two consecutive wins post-winter-break.

We should, however, highlight the struggles of Dortmund in those successful games – a team that allowed three equalizing goals before claiming a thrilling 4-3 win against Augsburg. A tight 2-1 victory followed this at Mainz, so we expect Leverkusen to fancy their chances in front of goal this Sunday.

Dortmund

Dortmund isn’t in the most desirable league standings position. Still, as the fifth-place positioning doesn’t seem great for the German giants, the title race is incredibly close this season, and they’re just five points away from table toppers Bayern Munich.

Edin Terzic will be confident his team can find a result in Leverkusen, but the home side’s awful beginning this season has been left behind, and they’re just seven points shy of Dortmund’s league position.

Pick and Prediction

Backing a side on the moneyline doesn’t provide much confidence; either team can collect all three points from this encounter. However, the goals market tells a different story.

Head-to-head, Dortmund and Leverkusen have seen over 2.5 goals in all competitions in nine of their last 10 games. Furthermore, we’ve witnessed over 3.5 goals in eight of those meetings.

Given the notable form of each squad, backing both teams to score over 2.5 goals for -138 feels like an incredible piece of value to end the Bundesliga betting weekend.
