Breaking Down The Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Where in the hell did the Tampa Bay Buccaneers come from? They have won their last five games in a row and are now tied for the top spot in the NFC South. This team has been bad for year, but they have clearly turned it around under first year coach Dirk Koetter. Jameis Winston has had a solid season so far with 23 passes, but still he has 12 INTs on the year. He has 6 TDs and 3 INTs during the five game win streak. This has been a very average offensive squad this year as they come in ranked 15th in total yards, 15th in passing, 17th in rushing and 18th in scoring putting up 22.5 ppg. They must find away to get a bit more offense in this one vs a very tough Dallas defense. The biggest turnaround for the Bucs this year has been their play on the defensive side of the ball. Through their first eight games they are just 3-5 and allowed 29 ppg over that stretch, but in their last five games they are 5-0 and have allowed just 12.8 ppg. Big improvement there and they will need that defense to step up vs what has been one of the better offenses in the league.
Trends: The Bucs have gone 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 21-10 ATS in their last 31 games on fieldturf, but just 12-25-1 ATS in their last 38 games in December and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games in Week 15. The Over is 9-2-1 in their last 12 games after allowing less than 15 points in their previous game, while the Under is 6-2-1 in their last 9 games in December.
Breaking Down The Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys have had a heck of a season so far and they would be undefeated if it weren’t for those pesky Giants, who just beat them for the 2nd time this year. They are the only two losses for the Cowboys this year so far. The Cowboys could have clenched the number 1 seed in the NFC had they won that game. Now they have to try and do so vs a very hot tampa Bay team, but just may have the defense to slow this Cowboys attack down. They were slowed down last week vs the Giants and if the Bucs hope to win the game then they will have to do the same. This has been a strong offense that has been led by rookies Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott. Prescott has a QBR of 102.7, which is 3rd in the league, while Elliott leads the league in rushing with 1392 yards. One should win rookie of the year and the other has a chance at league MVP or maybe both have a shot at that. They lead an offense that ranks 5th in the league in total yards, 20th in passing, 2nd in rushing and 6th in scoring, putting up 26.2 ppg. On defense they have been solid so far, although they do struggle vs the pass and Winston has the arm to do some damage vs it. The Cowboys are ranked 16th in total yards allowed, 28th against the pass, 2nd vs the run and 5th in points allowed, giving up just 18.3 ppg.
Trends: Dallas has gone 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games, but just 3-8-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and 6-17-1 ATS in their last 24 games on fieldturf. The Over is 35-15-3 in their last 53 games after allowing less than 15 points in their previous game, while the Under is 12-3 in their last 15 games following an ATS loss.
