NFL Conference Odds
Below you will find the odds for each of the NFL teams to win their division compared to their preseason odds. All updated NFL odds are courtesy of BetMGM as of September 1st, 2022.
American Football Conference
AFC East
Team | Division Odds | Preseason Odds |
Buffalo | -225 | -190 |
Miami | +475 | +450 |
New England | +475 | +500 |
NY Jets | +2200 | +2200 |
- • Buffalo Bills | 2021 Record: 11-6
The Bills are the class of the AFC, with apologies to the Chiefs and Chargers, and should easily win the division. Josh Allen is the odds-on favorite to win the MVP at +650 and he has all the tools in the toolbox to bring a Super Bowl home to the Bills Mafia.
- • Miami Dolphins | 2021 Record: 9-8
Tua Tagovailoa has two dynamic weapons on the wings with the addition of Tyreek Hill and the burgeoning superstar that is Jaylen Waddle. The major question mark is the Dolphins’ offensive line and whether or not it can protect Tua well enough to give him time to hit his talented targets.
- • New England Patriots | 2021 Record: 10-7
The Patriots are still without a formally named offensive and defensive coordinator and have looked disoriented in the preseason but Bill Belichick is sticking to this coordinator-by-committee approach. DeVante Parker is a nice new toy for Mac Jones while Tyquan Thornton, New England’s second-round rookie, showed promise in the preseason but a broken clavicle will sideline him for approximately eight weeks.
- • New York Jets | 2021 Record: 4-13
Sam Darnold 2.0, Zach Wilson, suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee in the preseason but he could be back under center by the Jets’ opener against Baltimore. Mammoth tackle Mekhi Becton fractured his knee cap and is out for the season and is being replaced by five-time, long-in-the-tooth, Pro Bowler Duane Brown who at 37 is a question mark.
AFC North
Team | Division Odds | Preseason Odds |
Baltimore | +140 | +220 |
Cincinnati | +165 | +220 |
Cleveland | +400 | +170 |
Pittsburgh | +1000 | +1000 |
- • Baltimore Ravens | 2021 Record: 8-9
The Ravens were in the basement of the AFC North last season but the best sportsbooks believe they will move on up to the high-rent district as the slight favorites to win the North. JK Dobbins should be back for Week 1 and what appears to be an impressive draft has bolstered the chances of the Ravens to unseat the Bengals as division winners.
- • Cincinnati Bengals | 2021 Record: 10-7
Joe Cool and the Cats will have a target on their backs this season after a surprise run to the Super Bowl. However, Burrow looks like the real deal and Ja’Marr Chase is an elite receiver. Couple that with Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd as second and third options with Joe Mixon busting through from the backfield and this team cannot be underestimated.
- • Cleveland Browns | 2021 Record: 8-9
The Browns will go only as far as Jacoby Brissett takes them. The Browns loaded up a Brinks truck and sent it to Deshaun Watson but he will be sitting for 11 games and by that time it may be too late.
- • Pittsburgh Steelers | 2021 Record: 9-7-1
Steelers’ coach Mike Tomlin has yet to name his starter but it will either be Mitch Trubisky or their first-round rookie, Kenny Pickett. The former has more experience but the latter proved in the preseason that he appears to be ready for primetime.
AFC South
Team | Division Odds | Preseason Odds |
Indianapolis | -140 | -105 |
Tennessee | +180 | +135 |
Jacksonville | +800 | +700 |
Houston | +3000 | +2500 |
- • Indianapolis Colts | 2021 Record: 9-8
Carson Wentz is out and Matt Ryan is in as the man under center in Indy. At age 37, Matty Ice is not the long-term solution but his veteran presence will pay dividends in the locker room and on the gridiron. Jonathan Taylor is the star supreme of this Colts’ iteration and he will likely have another banner season barring injuries.
- • Tennessee Titans | 2021 Record: 12-5
Plenty has to happen for the Titans to equal or better their 12-5 mark from last season. Derrick Henry is the straw that stirs the drink and he will have to do better than playing only eight games as he did last season. The Titans dealt A.J. Brown and brought in a cheaper version, first-round pick Treylon Burks, but the early reviews on the rookie out of Arkansas are mixed. He will be a key component to this team’s success, or lack thereof, this season.
- • Jacksonville Jaguars | 2021 Record: 3-14
The oddsmakers are optimistic that the Jags will make a decided leap forward this season but that wouldn’t be difficult considering their three-win season last year. Jacksonville’s season win total is 6 ½ and that number will hinge on Trevor Lawrence’s development and the protection he gets from his offensive line.
- • Houston Texans | 2021 Record: 4-13
If you were ever unsure whether or not preseason records are meaningless, consider that the Texans, Jets, Steelers, Raiders, and Bears all went undefeated and it would surprise no one if those teams were on the outside looking in come playoff time.
AFC West
Team | Division Odds | Preseason Odds |
Kansas City | +175 | +150 |
LA Chargers | +220 | +250 |
Denver | +275 | +250 |
Las Vegas | +600 | +700 |
- • Kansas City Chiefs | 2021 Season Record: 12-5
As long as Patrick Mahomes is pulling the trigger, the Chiefs will be in the Super Bowl mix. However, the loss of Tyreek Hill will not help the cause and Kansas City could find their lofty perch at the top of the AFC West a bit precarious with the Chargers on their tail.
- • Los Angeles Chargers | 2021 Season Record: 9-8
Justin Herbert will determine whether the Bolts are contenders or pretenders as he is one of the game’s fresh and talented faces. Austin Ekeler is a premier back and the dual threat of Mike Williams and Keenan Allen make this an offense that will score with the best of them.
- • Denver Broncos | 2021 Season Record: 7-10
Broncos fans should be jacked and pumped for this upcoming season with Russell Wilson terrorizing defenses while one of the most exciting young running backs in the game takes over the position with Javonte Williams running the rock for Denver and Melvin Gordon serving as a change of pace back.
- • Las Vegas Raiders | 2021 Season Record: 10-7
How good is Derek Car and where does he rank in the pantheon of today’s elite? It’s been a tough question to answer because he has played through injuries and often had a dearth of talent around him. But that mystery should be solved with the arrival of new head coach Josh McDaniels, the offensive architect of the Patriots’ dynasty, and the sublime Davante Adams, formerly Aaron Rodgers’ best football friend.
National Football Conference
NFC East
Team | Division Odds | Preseason Odds |
Dallas | +140 | +110 |
Philadelphia | +150 | +200 |
Washington | +500 | +500 |
NY Giants | +750 | +700 |
- • Dallas Cowboys | 2021 Season Record: 12-5
Amari Cooper is gone but CeeDee Lamb looks poised to elevate to the next level. As long as Ezekiel Elliott still has that explosive power coming out of the backfield the Boyz are in good shape with Dak Prescott in the pocket.
- • Philadelphia Eagles | 2021 Season Record: 9-8
There is always one team that gets plenty of preseason buzz as well as a sizeable action on the futures market. That team this season is the Philadelphia Eagles whose Super Bowl odds have plummeted and their odds to win the division are now neck and neck with Dallas’. Jalen Hurts has looked exceptional in the preseason and the chemistry with newly acquired A.J. Brown is palpable.
- • Washington Commanders | 2021 Season Record: 7-10
Carson Wentz gets one last gasp at trying to resurrect his flagging career in DC while their dynamic pass rusher, Chase Young, is on the shelf until Week 4 at least. Terry McLaurin is a threat but after that, there’s not a whole lot in the toolbox.
- • New York Giants | 2021 Season Record: 4-13
Speaking of one last gasp, Daniel Jones is another quarterback who is trying to prove his worth after the Giants decided not to pick up the fifth-year option on his rookie deal.
NFC North
Team | Division Odds | Preseason Odds |
Green Bay | -170 | -180 |
Minnesota | +250 | +270 |
Detroit | +900 | +1200 |
Chicago | +1300 | +950 |
- • Green Bay Packers | 2021 Season Record: 13-4
Filling the void left by Devante Adams will be impossible but the Packers remain one of the top teams to win it all this season. The Packers selected three players in the top 34 picks of the 2022 NFL Draft with wide receiver Christian Watson being the most intriguing. However, it’s been fourth-round pick Romeo Doubs stealing the spotlight.
- • Minnesota Vikings | 2021 Season Record: 8-9
If the Vikings can fix their defense, then they could be a dark horse because they have four lethal weapons on offense in Kirk Cousins, Justin Jefferson, Adam Thielen, and Dalvin Cook. If tight end Irv Smith can elevate to the next level this could be the team to beat in the North as evidenced by Minnesota’s plunging odds.
- • Detroit Lions | 2021 Season Record: 3-13
HBO’s Hard Knocks crew for the 2022 season has been on display and their head coach, Dan Campbell, has stolen the show. However, whether this edition will be showstoppers is highly doubtful but Jared Goff gets a chance to prove he’s capable of leading an offense to glory. Long shot.
- • Chicago Bears | 2021 Season Record: 6-11
Justin Fields is just one of many highly-drafted young quarterbacks around the league who are put in untenable positions to succeed. He has Cole Kmet as a nice tight-end option but outside of that, it’s slim pickings.
NFC South
Team | Division Odds | Preseason Odds |
Tampa Bay | -275 | -300 |
New Orleans | +325 | +375 |
Carolina | +1100 | +1200 |
Atlanta | +3000 | +1600 |
- • Tampa Bay Bucs | 2021 Season Record: 13-4
The mysterious Tom Brady has returned to the fold after an 11-day absence during the preseason and it should be all systems go for the Bucs unless Father Time finally wins his decades-long match with the ageless wonder. Brady has a pair of twin terrors in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, who are virtually impossible to stop.
- • New Orleans Saints | 2021 Season Record: 9-8
Jameis Winston demonstrated a quantum leap in his field processing and decision-making abilities last season until he suffered a torn ACL in Week 8 after registering 14 passing touchdowns to only three picks. He will have another bite at the apple this year with Alvin Kamara, Michael Thomas, and Jarvis Landry as a talented triumvirate.
- • Carolina Panthers | 2021 Season Record: 5-12
The No. 1 and No. 3 overall picks in the NFL Draft dueled for the starting role under center in Carolina and Baker Mayfield was given the nod over Sam Darnold to take the reins of the offense.
- • Atlanta Falcons | 2021 Season Record: 7-10
Falcons’ fans won’t have Matt Ryan to kick around anymore after he was traded to Indianapolis for a third-round pick. Marcus Mariota now has the unenviable task of making something out of nothing.
NFC West
Team | Division Odds | Preseason Odds |
LA Rams | +120 | +135 |
San Francisco | +160 | +180 |
Arizona | +380 | +300 |
Seattle | +2500 | +1400 |
- • Los Angeles Rams | 2021 Season Record: 12-5
The Rams are still the best in class in the NFC West and have signed the one-man-wrecking crew, Aaron Donald, to a brand-new deal. As long as Matthew Stafford’s elbow can remain injury free and the loss of All-Pro offensive tackle, Andrew Whitworth, doesn’t cause chaos in the trenches then they should be on track to win another division title and perhaps repeat as Super Bowl champs.
- • San Francisco 49ers | 2021 Season Record: 10-7
People are putting a lot of stock in lightly tested Trey Lance taking over as the main man in the Bay Area. The odds keep dropping and now the Niners are pulling close as the NFC West favorites after a heart-stopping conference championship loss to the Rams last season. Jimmy Garoppolo is still on the team, having come to terms on a one-year agreement as Lance’s backup.
- • Arizona Cardinals | 2021 Season Record: 11-6
Kyler Murray has been shown the money and will be plying his trade in the desert for the foreseeable future. DeAndre Hopkins will be out on suspension for six games which means veteran A.J. Green and former Raven Marquise Brown will have to keep the passing game alive until he returns.
- • Seattle Seahawks | 2021 Season Record: 7-10
Russell Wilson has departed and the Geno Smith era has begun. If that’s not enough to keep the fans away in droves this season then nothing is because this team has two chances of winning – slim and none…and Slim just left town.
