Divisional Weekend Schedule
This Divisional Weekend sees the No.1 seeds from both the AFC and NFC enter the fray of the knockout stage of this year’s chase for Super Bowl glory.
In the AFC, Kansas City Chiefs entertain the Jaguars at Arrowhead while over in Philadelphia the Eagles have a familiar visitor in the form of their divisional rivals, the New York Giants.
The NFC East has produced three playoff teams with the Dallas Cowboys and there’s nothing more the Giants would want to do than to put a spanner in the works of their Division’s champions.
Saturday, January 21, 2023

NFC: #6 New York Giants vs. #1 Philadelphia Eagles – 08:15 PM at Lincoln Financial Field
Sunday, January 22, 2023
AFC: #3 Cincinnati Bengals vs. #2 Buffalo Bills – 03:00 PM at Highmark Stadium
NFC: #4 Dallas Cowboys vs. #2 San Francisco 49ers – 06:30 PM at Levi’s Stadium
Who Has the Super Bowl Value?
Kansas City Chiefs
Solid Super Bowl favorites from the off, the team to beat. The problem is they are often susceptible at the playoff stage to being blindsided but with head coach Andy Reid and star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs trod this path successfully in 2019.
They are the team who can beat the Kansas City Chiefs but they have an awkward match first vs. the Bengals. If they win, the pressure from those four losing Super Bowl finals will be looming large in Buffalo.
San Francisco 49ers
Probably the NFC’s most reliable playoff team in recent years.
Long-time NFC favorites but the optimism has been tempered somewhat in recent weeks by injury concerns for the key quarterback, Jalen Hurts.
After a poor start, the Bengals have found their mojo as the season has progressed. This year they have to beat both the Bills this weekend and the Chiefs, a tall order, but with Joe Burrow, we know anything is possible for last year’s AFC winners.
Fairly satisfactory season now for Dallas but this weekend is the acid test for America’s favorite team.
New York Giants
This year’s surprise package with quarterback Daniel Jones putting his critics in their place.
A hardy team who never knows when they are beaten. Underestimate at your peril.
Super Bowl 2023 Value Pick
At this late stage of the season and before this weekend’s Divisional Round, it’s time to trust the Kansas City Chiefs who have avoided the Cincinnati Bengals in this round.
If the Bills beat the Bengals, then suddenly the pressure of all those years of never winning a Super Bowl will start to reappear in Buffalo.
This is the last realistic opportunity to support the Kansas City Chiefs and we are taking the +325 at BetRivers.

Can New York Become a Giant Killer in Philadelphia?
For the last twelve years, victories have been thin on the ground for the New York Giants against their divisional rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, winning on only six occasions in the last twenty-four divisional matches since 2010.
It’s very rare though that the Giants have had the opportunity to beat their rivals in the knockout stages of an NFL season let alone when the Eagles are #1 seeds. This post-season, quarterback Daniel Jones has finally started to fulfill the promise he showed a couple of years ago when filling Eli Manning’s shoes at the crucial position.
The plaudits he received at the weekend after upsetting the Minnesota Vikings are the complete opposite of some of the derision Jones has suffered since his #6 draft pick of 2019. Saquon Barkley scoring a brace of touchdowns at running back after Jones threw over 300 yards and rushed 73 yards means Jones isn’t the only 25-year-old starting to fulfill their promise in New York.
Will the Eagles Be Vulnerable?
The last match between these two sides in the regular NFL season saw the Eagles’ star quarterback, Jalen Hurts play in a restricted fashion due to a shoulder injury. This effectively means that Hurts has been resting and inactive for five weeks before this weekend’s divisional round so there’s a natural trepidation that perhaps he won’t be as potent in the key position as in the regular season.
It may also take Hurts time to get back into the flow and in a divisional round clash there will likely be no hiding place.
I sneakily fancy the New York Giants to upset the NFL odds this weekend but for a safe bet, I like the look of a touchdown spread for the Giants.
