Breaking Down The Ohio State Buckeyes
The Ohio State Buckeyes are at it again and look like they are headed for another entrance into the NCAA Playoffs. The Buckeyes are 5-0 on the year and have outscored their opponents by 42.4 ppg in the process. Just total domination and they will do that to you as the buckeyes have no issues at all in running up the score. The Buckeyes come in ranked 6th in the nation in total offense, putting up 537.6 ypg, 3rd in rushing at 323.6 ypg and 3rd in scoring at 53.2 ppg. That ground attack has been dominant, but they will be facing their stiffest test yet as the Badgers have one of the best run defenses in the nation. The Buckeyes may have to throw here more than normal and they are just 84th in the nation in passing. On defense they have been just as strong as their offense as they come in ranked 4th in the land in yards allowed, 5th against the pass, 9th against the run and 2nd in points allowed, giving up just 10.8 ppg so far. They could very well have a solid showing vs a less than average Wisconsin offense.
Breaking Down The Wisconsin Badgers
Wisconsin is one of 4 teams in the Big 10 that are ranked in the top ten and with good reason as they already have a win over LSU and a road win over Michigan State on their resume. Two weeks ago they took on a very strong Michigan team on the road and fell by just a 14-7 score. This is a dangerous team if you are not careful, especially here at Camp Randall Stadium and especially with the Badgers coming off a bye week. Wisconsin will really need to turn to their defense to win this one. That defense really won the game in Michigan State, vs LSU and nearly won it two weeks ago vs Michigan. This defense is 11th in the nation in total yards allowed, 35th vs the pass 6th vs the run and 4th in points allowed, giving up just 12.2 ppg. This is a very tough defense and if they have any hopes of pulling the upset it will have to from the play on this side of the ball. The reason they will have to rely on that defense is because their offense just isn’t very good. The Badgers come in 106th in the nation in total offense 97th in passing, 78th in rushing and 88th in scoring, putting up just 26 ppg. They have to find a way to score vs this very tough defense or they will be in for a long night.
