The 2022-23 NFL season kicks off with a possible Super Bowl preview as the Buffalo Bills take on the defending champion Los Angeles Rams.
A lot can happen in an NFL season and success from a previous season does not necessarily translate to the following year. With that said, there is a ton of expectation for both teams coming into this year so this game should have an intense atmosphere.

Buffalo Bills: Team Analysis
How Good Is Josh Allen?
There is a ton of expectation for the Buffalo Bills this season coming off the back of their playoff classic with the Kansas City Chiefs. Even though the Bills lost that game, they showed enough under the most intense pressure possible that they have the ability to perform. That starts with Josh Allen, who has shown that he is one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
He does still have some inconsistency issues but at his best, he is probably the most physically gifted quarterback in the league. He also has a ton of weapons around him starting with Stefon Diggs who is one of the best receivers in the league.
The hype makes sense but nothing is a given in this league and the NFL odds dictate the Bills start off their season on the road as -2.5 favorites against the defending Super Bowl champions.
Los Angeles Rams: Team Analysis
Matt Stafford just wanted a chance to compete for a title after spending the first 11 years of his career in Detroit. After taking the Rams all the way to the promised land last season, the expectation has to be Super Bowl or bust again this year.
Stafford looked good last season although he was streaky at times. He got hot when it mattered and his playoff performance gives Rams’ fans a ton of reason to be optimistic this season.
With the addition of Allen Robinson, the Rams might have the best receiver duo in the league. While he wasn’t at his best last season, he’s still young enough at 29 years old to be closer to his best. Add to that the fact that he is not the number one wide receiver on his team, it should actually provide him with easier opportunities. He’s also playing with the best quarterback of his career by a wide margin.
We can’t talk about this team without talking about their defense. They are just as responsible for the Rams’ Super Bowl victory as the offense. That of course starts with Aaron Donald who got his money after some talk of retirement. He’s one of the best defensive players of all time and will continue to be a force to be reckoned with as long as he’s healthy.
Donald isn’t the only future hall of famer on this defense as the Rams have added former division rival Bobby Wagner. With Jalen Ramsey manning the outside, this defense has a superstar on every level.
Bills vs. Rams: Betting Odds and Pick
This game opened with the Rams as -1 home favorites but as mentioned previously, that number has been steamed all the way up to Bills -2.5. The total opened at 52 and now sits at 53 at most of the top online sportsbooks.
In my opinion, it’s hard to not like the Rams here. I have a lot of respect for the Bills but even if you think they are the better team, it can’t be by a wide margin.
You could do a lot worse than getting points at home with the defending champions. While I am tempted to take the Rams on the moneyline here because of the +2.5 spread, I have enough respect for the Bills that I’ll take the points instead.
NFL Pick: Rams +2.5 (-110) at BetMGM
