Breaking Down The Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs have had a solid season so far, but they come into this game off a rather puzzling home loss to Tampa Bay. They had won their previous five games in a row and were tied with the Raiders for the top spot in the AFC West. They are now tied for 2nd in the division with the Broncos. The Chiefs defense had been solid this year, but they allowed 326 yards passing to the Bucs and that was at home. The Chiefs just couldn’t get on the field on offense that lost the TOP battle by over 10 minutes. The Bucs controlled the clock and thus most of the game. The Chiefs have allowed their fair share of yards on the year, but they haven’t allowed many points. KC comes in ranked 25th in total yards allowed, 16th vs the pass, 27th vs the run, but they are 7th in points allowed, giving up just 18.7 ppg. They will be taking on a less than average offensive team in this one. On offense, the chiefs are not a great team as they come in ranked 24th in total yards, 22nd in passing, 21st in rushing and 19th in scoring, putting up 22.2 ppg. They may not improve on those rankings as they are facing a very good defensive team.
Trends: The Chiefs have gone 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following an ATS loss, but just 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games on grass and 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game. The Over is 7-2 in their last 9 games in Week 12, while the Under is 56-27-2 in their last 85 games on grass.
Breaking Down The Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos come in off their bye week at 7-3. In their last game they took on the New Orleans saints on the road and came away with a 2 point win, thanks to a run back of an extra point. Sometimes the good teams need a little luck to win their games and Denver got that luck in the game vs the Saints. Denver is now 7-3 on the year and a game out of first in the very tough AFC West. They have won 3 of their last 5 four games, with that lone loss coming at the hands of those Raiders. The Broncos are again in good shape to make the playoffs for a chance at defending their title. They have been led by their defense this year, which ranks 4th in the league in yards allowed, 2nd vs the pass, 29th vs the run and 9th in points allowed, giving up just 18.9 ppg. That run defense will have its hands full with a decent KC ground attack. On offense, this has not been a good team as they come in ranked 27th in total offense, 23rd in passing, 22nd in rushing and 14th in scoring, putting up 23.9 ppg. This one has the potential of being a defensive struggle.
Trends: The Broncos have gone 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games after allowing more than 250 yards passing in their previous game and 14-5-1 ATS in their last 20 games following a bye week, but just 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games in Week 12 and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. the AFC West. The Under is 6-1 in their last 7 vs. a team with a winning record.
