Free NBA pick from Doc’s Sports for Friday:
Take #819 Utah -1.5 over Phoenix (9 p.m. ET, Friday)

Utah has been playing real well lately, and, frankly, the Suns have not. We just think that the Jazz are the much better play here and they should win this game and, therefore, cover the line. We like them to win here and the bucket line does not shy us away. Anyways, road favorites have been a solid wager this season, especially involving teams with a talent mismatch like we see here tonight.

The Jazz face a pretty tough schedule coming up so we think they come to play in this very winnable game. The Jazz haven’t been great on the road, but they have had a tough road schedule and they have won most of the games they should have on the road, and this one qualifies in that category. They come into this one off four straight wins, and they are playing with a lot of confidence right now.

Phoenix has been pretty lousy lately as they have only one win in their last eight games. They have played well against the Grizzlies, who they beat last time out and took to OT in the previous meeting, but otherwise they have not looked very good at all and they have had some ugly losses to some pretty bad teams.

Doc’s loves the Friday card and we have three strong plays with 10 units in play and we have a very good feeling a sweep of the board is in order tonight. A one-day package is only $29!

Take #812 Houston -2.5 over Boston (8 p.m. ET)

Boston isn’t nearly the same team on the road than they have been at home this season. In fact the Celtics have covered just one game away from home in their last five road contests. They have also failed to follow up winning efforts with good performances as the Celtics are 0-4 ATS the game following a straight up win and come into this game off a victory in their last contest.

Houston has owned the much weaker Eastern Conference of late going 7-1 ATS against them their last eight. In fact if the Rockets were in the East there is no doubt they would be a much more serious contender than they are right now in the West. Houston has beaten the Knicks by 28 at home and the Bulls by four this season, while battling the Heat to just a three point loss back a little over a month ago. The Rockets also have went into Atlanta and beat a decent Hawks team as a five point underdogs in that game.

Outside of an ugly loss to the Mavericks a few games back and two overtime defeats at the hands of Portland, all of the Rockets losses this season have come against the top teams in the NBA with defeats coming from the Spurs twice (one on road), on the road at some very tough places like Oklahoma City, Utah, LA and Memphis while losing at home to the earlier mentioned Miami and also a desperate Denver team at the time. Houston is the much better of these two teams, especially so when they are at home. Play Houston in this one.
