Initially tipped as the team to contend for Manchester City’s Premier League title this season, the Reds entered the 2022/23 campaign with optimism following a second-place finish last term.
However, it’s not about the success of past years, as the world’s most competitive soccer league only cares about what teams have done lately. And lately, Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool squad have severely underperformed.
The Reds have endured their worst seven-game start to a Premier League season since 2014, and Klopp’s predecessor, Brendan Rodgers, saw his team finish in sixth place before the German manager arrived to begin his revamp.
The Klopp era, however, isn’t comparable to Rodger’s time in Merseyside. Still, the cracks are beginning to show as the electric on-pitch performances we’ve seen over the past couple of seasons haven’t been present this term.
The Gunners Stay Gunning
After winning seven of their opening eight EPL fixtures, the Gunners are firing from all angles and return to domestic action on Matchday 10 on the back of a 3-1 win over their North London rivals, Tottenham. They’re also loading up the ammunition in their Europa League efforts; a 3-0 midweek success will only add to the high level of confidence that’s floating around the Emirates.
Arsenal has begun this season with the strongest record since Liverpool won their opening eight games on course to winning the EPL title in 2019/20. However, the Gunners’ title hopes are still in the distance, with Erling Haaland and Manchester City looking like an unstoppable force.
That said, a victory against Liverpool would undoubtedly give Mikel Arteta and company a title-challenging level of respect that many critics are still skeptical about.

Unfortunately, defensive frailties have seeped through the cracks as the West Midlands squad has now conceded 5 goals from their last 2 games. To make matters worse, the Wolves haven’t recorded an away win this term and have failed to score in 5 of their last 7 EPL meetings.
Interim bosses Steve Davis and James Collins will steer the ship following the dismissal of manager Bruno Lage last week. Fixing the issues, however, won’t come easy. The Wolves have won 1 of their 8 EPL games this term and have scored an embarrassing three goals.
UCL Confidence Boost
Graham Potter left a well-oiled Brighton squad sitting comfortably in fourth place. Still, he’s arrived at Stamford Bridge with a fresh set of legs to construct, and he’s living up to the expectations following a midweek 3-0 UCL win over AC Milan.
Chelsea went from the bottom of their Champions League group into second after dismantling Milan, and this was possibly the Blues’ most outstanding performance of the 2022/23 season in all competitions.
Following in the footsteps of Thomas Tuchel won’t be easy; he did win the Champions League, after all. But with a debut win over Crystal Palace last weekend and a European triumph against the Italian champions, Potter will be eager to break down a frail Wolves squad and attempt to shorten the four-point gap between his men and a third-placed Tottenham squad.

The available odds naturally favor the home side, and it’s difficult to argue with this stance.
The odds aren’t desirable on a straight Chelsea moneyline, but if you incorporate the over 1.5 goals into your betting slip, value can be found.
