Football continues apace this Sunday with Week 1 of the XFL season, and Caesars Sportsbook has the right deal for your first XFL picks.

St. Louis Battlehawks vs. San Antonio Brahmas

Sunday, February 19, 2023 – 03:00 PM EST at Alamodome

Here Is the Deal

There’s always room for football. Super Bowl LVII may be behind us, but the XFL is back in business for 2023, and bettors in the great state of Louisiana will have to make a decision: Do they prefer the St. Louis Battlehawks or the San Antonio Brahmas this Sunday?

It’s a bit like choosing between Cajun and Creole. The Battlehawks are 2-point road favorites on the XFL lines at Caesars Sportsbook as we go to press; all four Week 1 games have point spread of less than a field goal at the best sportsbooks, as everyone tries to sort out which of these teams have the advantage after three years of inactivity.

Good thing Caesars have this sweet free bet deal for new customers in Louisiana. If you bet at least $10 on Sunday’s game and your XFL pick doesn’t work out, you’ll get a second crack at it with a free bet of the same amount – giving you up to $1,250 in bonus money to play with.

All you have to do to claim this deal is sign up at Caesars, mash that Claim Deal button, select Louisiana from the list of states, and enter the promo code ODDSTRADERFULL when you create your account. Once you’re all set up, log in and visit the promotions page so you can register for the Full Caesar welcome offer before you place your bet.

Which Team Should I Bet On?

Even without having seen these teams play since 2020 – stupid pandemic – it’s easy to conclude that St. Louis has the early jump on the competition. That’s because they were assigned quarterback A.J. McCarron in the 2023 XFL Draft.

You may remember McCarron from his time backing up Andy Dalton with the Cincinnati Bengals in the mid-2010s, or perhaps before that when he led the Alabama Crimson Tide to back-to-back college football titles in 2012 and 2013.

McCarron was this close to taking the starting gig from Dalton, but untimely injuries hindered his NFL career and ultimately landed him in the XFL. He’s easily the most talented quarterback in this league, and he’s still only 32, so as long as McCarron has four working limbs, St. Louis has to be considered the team to beat.

The Brahmas (named in reference to XFL owner Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, aka “The Brahama Bull” from his wrestling days) didn’t have as much luck at the draft, but they did sign former Wisconsin and Notre Dame QB Jack Coan, so they can’t be ruled out this Sunday. Either way, you’ll get a free bet if your chosen team doesn’t cash in, so use it wisely, and enjoy the football.
