NIT Betting Preview: Missouri State at Miami FL

The first weekend of the NCAA Tournament is over but the college basketball action continues on Monday night when the Missouri State Bears take on the Miami Hurricanes in the second round of the NIT (7:00 p.m. ET, ESPN).

Both teams are coming off nice wins in the first round as Missouri State (26-8 SU, 16-15-2 ATS) took out Murray State 89-76 as 9-point favorites while Miami (20-14 SU, 15-13-1 ATS) routed Florida Atlantic 85-62 as a 9.5-point chalk.

Miami is listed as a 4.5-point favorite at SBGGlobal.com and the total is set at 134. On the moneyline, the Hurricanes are -200 and the Bears are +170.

The Bears got 23 points from Jermaine Mallett in their win over Murray State. Four other Missouri State players also scored in double figures.

Missouri State is getting used to the postseason and they have done well under head coach Cuonzo Martin. The Bears won the CBI tournament last year so they are now 5-0 under Martin in the postseason.

This will be the seventh time in history that Missouri State has played a team from the ACC – the Bears are 2-4 in their previous six games vs. the ACC. This will be the first-ever game against Miami.

Miami got 23 points from Malcolm Grant and 20 rebounds from Reggie Johnson in their rout of Florida Atlantic. Not many fans showed up for Miami’s opening round win but it should be a better crowd on Monday since this game is on ESPN.
