NBA Betting Preview: Wizards at Knicks

New York Knicks logoThe New York Knicks look to snap a season high six-game losing streak when they host the Washington Wizards on Monday (7:30 p.m. ET, NBA TV).

New York has suffered some tough losses of late including on Saturday when Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant hit a three-pointer buzzer beater which lifted the Thunder to a 101-98 victory.

Washington would seem to be the perfect tonic for the Knicks but the Wizards did show they can beat a top team slipping past Boston 85-83 as 6.5-point home dogs on Saturday night.

New York is listed as a 7.5-point home favorite at SBGGlobal.com and the total is set at 210.5. On the moneyline, the Knicks are -330; the Wizards are +270.

The Knicks are second in the league in scoring but during their losing streak they have slumped. Over the last four games, the Knicks are scoring only 96 points per game. Meanwhile, on defense, they are allowing 106 points per game, fourth most in the NBA.

Washington has rookie sensation John Wall (15.1 ppg, 9.2 apg) and a couple of other up-and-comers, Nick Young (16.5 ppg) and Andray Blatche (16.3 ppg). However, the Wizards still have a long way to go to before their feared – they are No. 22 in scoring (96.3) and No. 11 in most points allowed (102.1).

The Wizards will be without backup point guard Kirk Hinrich on Monday as he is out with an elbow injury.

The Knicks have beaten the Wizards twice already this season. And coming off that big comeback win against Boston on Saturday could translate into a classic Monday letdown for Washington.
