NBA Betting Preview: Mavericks at Bulls

After snapping a six-game losing streak against the Lakers at home, the Dallas Mavericks blow into the Windy City to play the Central Division-leading Chicago Bulls (8:00 p.m. ET, TNT).

With Dirk Nowitzki back for his third game since missing nine due to a knee injury, the Mavericks outgunned the Lakers 109-100 as 3-point home dogs last night. The Bulls, meanwhile, had yesterday off after losing on Tuesday at home against Charlotte.

Chicago is listed as a 3.5-point home favorite at SBGGlobal.com and the total is set at 184.5. On the moneyline, the Bulls are -155 and the Mavericks are +135.

Both the Mavericks and Bulls have been dealing with injuries. Although Dallas got Dirk Nowitzki back last week, the Mavs are still missing G-F Caron Butler (knee).

The Bulls are without F-C Joakim Noah, who is out until next month (thumb), and second leading scorer Carlos Boozer (20.1 ppg) could miss Thursday’s game due to a sprained ankle.

As a result, the Bulls are relying heavily upon PG Derrick Rose, who was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season. He averaged 27.3 points, 6.8 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game helping lift the Bulls to three wins last week.

The Mavericks have been a far better team this season against the spread on the road than at home. Dallas is 12-6 ATS on the road while they have a losing record against the number at home.

Although Dallas is in the back-to-back situation in this game, the Mavs have been kind to backers on no rest having gone 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games in that situation.

That said, Dallas will be facing a team that is 18-4 SU and 13-8-1 ATS at home this season. Here are some more key NBA betting stats for Thursday’s game:
