NBA Betting Preview: Celtics at Warriors

Golden State Warriors logoMost of Boston’s starting lineup didn’t have to travel far for Tuesday night’s game in Oakland as Rajon Rondo, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen were all in Los Angeles for the All-Star game on Sunday night.

The Celtics (40-14 SU, 26-26-2 ATS) begin a four-game West Coast trip tonight against a Golden State team (26-29 SU, 30-25 ST) that has won three in a row both straight up and against the spread (10:35 p.m. ET).

Boston is listed as a 4.5-point road favorite at SBGGlobal.com and the total is 198. On the moneyline, the Celtics are -185; the Warriors are +165.

Golden State is playing better than they have all season and they are within three games of .500. The Warriors have taken advantage of a favorable schedule and have become a team worth watching.

Head coach Keith Smart has done a nice job with the Warriors, who beat Oklahoma City, New Orleans and Utah before the All-Star break. With 26 wins this season the Warriors have already matched last season’s win total.

Golden State has owned the Celtics in Oakland in recent seasons as the Celtics have lost six straight times at Golden State. That said, Boston has the best winning percentage of any team in the Eastern Conference as well as the fewest losses on the road.

Warriors guards Monta Ellis (25.4 ppg, 2.2 spg) and Stephen Curry (18.4 ppg, 1.7 spg) should be able to give the Boston guards some trouble.

However, the key question is how Golden State handles the inside game of the Celtics. The Warriors’ overall defensive numbers this season are poor but in their last three games they didn’t allow any team to score more than 100 points.

Here are some key NBA betting stats for Tuesday’s game:

The Warriors are 4-0 ATS in their last four Tuesday games. The Warriors are 23-5 ATS in their last 28 vs. the Atlantic.
