NBA Betting Preview: Celtics at Bulls

The marquee matchup in the NBA on Thursday features the visiting Boston Celtics taking on the red-hot Chicago Bulls (8:05 p.m. ET, TNT).

The Bulls lead the Eastern Conference and with a win in this game they can pretty much end any chance Boston has of catching them for the top seed.

Both teams are coming off wins on Tuesday as the Bulls slipped past Phoenix 97-94 as 11-point home favorites while Boston routed Philadelphia 99-82 as a 5.5-point home chalk.

Chicago is listed as a 4.5-point favorites at SBGGlobal.com and the total for the game is set at 179. On the moneyline, the Bulls are -200; the Celtics are +170.

The Bulls didn’t play well on Tuesday but still came away with the win. Derrick Rose had 19 points to lead Chicago. The Bulls were in good shape in the third quarter and led the Suns by 22 points but they let up and nearly lost the game.

The Bulls have now failed to cover the spread in their last three games. Although they have lost their last four at home vs. the number, overall Chicago has been a good team against the spread at home having gone 23-14-2 ATS.

The Celtics have played better of late with wins over Detroit and Philadelphia. Boston played one of their best games on Tuesday as they routed the 76ers in what could be a first round playoff preview.

Boston has not been that great on the road vs. the point spread this year having gone 18-20 ATS.

In this series the home team has won the last three meetings and gone 2-1 against the spread. The Bulls won 90-79 at the United Center back in early January as 2-point favorites. Derrick Rose had 36 points in that win for the Bulls.
