NBA Betting Preview: Celtics at 76ers

A possible first round playoff preview is on tap for Friday night in Philadelphia as the 76ers host the Boston Celtics (7:05 p.m. ET).

The 76ers (33-31 SU, 40-23-1 ATS) have been one of the best teams in the NBA the past month; they have gone 16-6 SU (14-8 ATS) in their last 22 games. They haven’t had much success against Boston though having lost 12 of the last 14 meetings.

Boston is listed as a 2-point road favorite at SBGGlobal.com and the total is set at 191.5. On the moneyline, the Celtics are -130; the Sixers are +110.

The Celtics (46-16 SU, 29-31-2 ATS) have been the top team in the Eastern Conference for much of the season but after a 108-13 loss against the Clippers as 9-point home favorites on Wednesday the Celtics lead in the conference is just 1.5 games over Chicago.

Boston might have a tough time bouncing back from that defeat against a Philadelphia team that is capable of playing with anyone. The 76ers are 7-3 SU (6-4 ATS) in their last 10 home games with their only losses coming to Orlando, Dallas and Oklahoma City.

The 76ers had the Thunder beat on Wednesday only to see Kevin Durant hit a 3-pointer to send the game into overtime where the Sixers lost 110-105 as 1.5-point home favorites.

Boston is still trying to work their new players into the lineup and it has not always gone smoothly. Jeff Green, Nenad Krstic, Troy Murphy and Carlos Arroyo have been added to the team and none have really found their place yet.

The Celtics are without forward Glen Davis and guard Delonte West who are injured but they might get Shaquille O’Neal back on Friday.

The Celtics and 76ers have been giving up quite a few points lately. The 76ers have given up 100 points or more in five straight games while Boston has allowed 100 or more in four of their last five.
