MLB regular season win totals

Key personnel losses during the offseason have forced oddsmakers to set the bar a little lower for the World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals this season.

The Cards won 90 games in the regular season en route to winning the 2011 Fall Classic. But not long after the celebration were over, the Redbirds lost future Hall of Fame manager Tony LaRussa, who retired, and perennial All-Star Albert Pujols, who was acquired by the LA Angels.

As a result of those losses, BetOnline.com has set the Cards’ win total at 87; Sportsbook.ag has the line even lower at 83.5.

On the flipside, the Angels, who won 86 games last year, are expected to rack up more W’s this season. BetOnline has set their win total at 89.5 wins while Sportsbook.ag has the number at 92.5.

The Miami Marlins, who won just 72 wins last year and finished in the basement of the NL East, are expected to improve dramatically this season. The Marlins, one of the most active teams in the offseason, have a win total of 82.5 at BetOnline and 84.5 at Sportsbook.ag.
