Breaking Down The Indianapolis Colts

This has been a disappointing season for the Colts this year as they are just 5-6 so far, but because they are in the weak AFC South they are just one game out of first, so they are very much alive for a division title. Getting a game vs a weak Jets squad may be just what they need to get back to the .500 level for the year. The Colts are off a bad 28-7 home loss to the Steelers, but they were missing QB Andrew Luck for that game and he is expected to play in this one. Having him on the field is a big boost to the offense. Luck has thrown for 2827 yards this year with 19 TDs and his 93.9 QBR is 14th in the league. He has had better years, butt still is more than capable of putting up big numbers at anytime, especially vs a weak Jets pass defense. The Colts come in ranked 15th in total offense, 11th in passing, 25th in rushing and 12th in scoring, putting up 24.5 ppg. The big struggle for the Colts this year has come on the defensive side of the ball as they come in ranked 30th in total yards allowed, 30th vs the Pass, 23rd vs the run and 28th in points allowed, giving up 27.4 ppg. They will not be facing a good Jets offense so their defense has a chance for a good showing in this one.

Trends: The Colts have gone 9-2 ATS in their last 11 road games vs. a team with a losing home record and 25-9 ATS in their last 34 games following a straight up loss, but just 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games following a double-digit loss at home and 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 games in December. The Over is 5-1 in their last 6 games in Week 13, while the Under is 21-5 in their last 26 games following a double-digit loss at home.

Breaking Down The New York Jets

The Jets have really had a tough year and they come in off a hard-fought 22-17 home loss to their heated rivals the New England Patriots. The Jets are now just 3-8 on the year and will not be a part of the playoffs this year. They just have not been a good team and it starts with their weak offense, which comes in ranked 22nd in total yards, 25th in passing, 12th in rushing and 28th in scoring, putting up just 17.8 ppg. Ryan Fitzpatrick is not the answer for this offense and his QBR of 72.2 proves that. The lone bright spot on this offense has been Matt Forte, who has run for 759 yards, which is 10th in the league. He can’t do it alone, but this offense will be taking on one of the weakest defense in the league, so there is hope for them in this one. The defense has not been that great for the Jets, especially their pass defense and that is not good new when about to face Andrew Luck. The Jets come in ranked 12th in the league in total yards allowed, 22nd vs the pass, 4th vs the run and 21st in points allowed, giving up 24.2 ppg. The defense played rather well vs Tom Brady last week, but can they do it for a 2nd week in a row? We shall see.

Trends:  The Jets have gone 10-1-2 ATS in their last 13 games in December, but just 5-14-2 ATS in their last 21 games after accumulating more than 250 yards passing in their previous game and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. The Over is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings, while the Under is 6-1 in their last 7 games after accumulating more than 250 yards passing in their previous game.
