Even though Middle Tennessee State finished the regular season 6-6 (4-7 ATS) while Miami finished 9-4 (7-5 ATS), the Blue Raiders are the favorites on Thursday night.

Middle Tennessee is listed as a 2-point favorite at SBGGlobal.com and the total is set at 48.5. On the moneyline, the Blue Raiders are -130 and the RedHawks are +110.

Miami went from 1-11 last season to 9-4 this year. Head coach Michael Haywood did such a good job that Pittsburgh hired him away to be their head coach. However, Haywood was arrested for domestic violence last Friday and was promptly fired by Pitt.

Defensive backs coach Lance Guidry will serve as interim coach for the RedHawks in the bowl game while Michigan State offensive coordinator Don Treadwell will be the team’s head coach next college football betting season.

On the field, Thursday night’s game will be a showcase of quarterbacks – Middle Tennessee State has dual threat Dwight Dasher while Miami of Ohio has redshirt freshman Austin Boucher.

Dasher, who had 1,377 yards passing and 305 yards rushing, missed the first four games of the season but he has played well in the past three games as the Blue Raiders rallied to make a bowl game.

Middle Tennessee State was a team that drove bettors crazy this past season. The Blue Raiders tied for the most turnovers in the country with 33. Still, they managed to won six games yet were just 4-8 ATS.

Boucher, meanwhile, has looked like a poised veteran since he was tossed into the starter’s role when senior Zac Dysert went down with a rib injury on November 10. He has averaged 233.6 yards in the last three games, which were all wins.

The RedHawks also have running back Thomas Merriweather, who has averaged 120 ypg through the last four games. He will be facing a Middle Tennessee State run defense that is allowing almost 200 yards per game on the ground.
