Free Baseball Pick: St. Louis at Washington

Huge series here between these two solid NL teams as we get ready to head into September. The St. Louis Cardinals come in a little bit of a slump offensively right now and cause of this we are getting a bit of a discount with backing them at the betting windows in this one. The Cardinals offense for the most part is healthy (though they just lost Furcal last night) and is easily the best offense in the National League this season. The Cardinals have hit both lefties and righties well this season but they posted bigger numbers when facing a left-hander like they do in this one here today. St. Louis will go with right-hander Adam Wainwright in this one. Wainwright is once again one of the most undervalued pitchers in all of baseball this year as he comes into this contest with eight straight starts allowing two runs or fewer in the game. Despite this fact, Wainwright continues to be priced more like a good pitcher but not the ace type that he is still these days.

The Washington Nationals will counter here with Gio Gonzalez. There was a lot of buzz around the early start Gonzalez posted to begin the 2012 season but that excitement has died down a bit as the 26 year old left-hander has slowed of latet. In fact the southpaw has an ERA above 4.00 in his last eight starts and four of his last eight starts have been non-quality outings also. The Nationals have been rock solid all season long but have dropped four of their last five games against teams starting a right-hander like the Cardinals have on the hill here in this one today.

The top hitting Cardinals offense along with Wainwright are priced cheap in this one. Play St. Louis here. My college football season is off and rolling with a 2-2 split last night making me now 7-5 and 58% so far in all my plays on the gridiron so far this 2012 season. This isn’t much different than the 62% winners I have posted in the early going in August and September of 2010 and 2011 in all my football plays. I have another five big selections going Saturday including a big totals play also on tap. Keep in mind that I went 9-0 last year to start the season with early season CFB totals and am 1-1 so far this year. Join in all the winning as we have half off packages up right now for this week in CFB action.
