CHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Chicago White Sox own first place in the American League Central Division largely due to their play at home.
The White Sox go for their 10th straight win at U.S. Cellular Field on Thursday when they open a four-game series against the Oakland Athletics.
Chicago earned its ninth consecutive home win and seventh victory in a row overall on Wednesday as A.J. Pierzynski's second home run of the game - a solo shot in the 10th inning - lifted the White Sox to a 6-5 triumph over the Cleveland Indians.
It was the second walk-off win in as many games for Chicago, which earned a 3-2 victory Tuesday against the Indians on Orlando Cabrera's RBI single in the 10th inning.
To keep their winning streak alive, the White Sox must solve A's starter Justin Duchscherer (8-5, 1.91 ERA), who owns the lowest ERA in the majors.
Duchscherer, a converted reliever, has allowed two runs or less in 12 of his 13 starts this season. He is also holding opponents to an American League-low .197 batting average.
Javier Vazquez (7-6, 4.49) counters for the White Sox after allowing five runs and nine hits in just 4 1/3 innings during Sunday's 6-5 victory over the Chicago Cubs.
