The Pistons will go into the postseason in the No.2 spot, where they will face Philadelphia, and they have been resting their veterans lately. Players like Chauncey Billups, Rasheed Wallace and Richard Hamilton have been given halves off, and sometimes entire games. This allows Rodney Stuckey and Jason Maxiell more playing time, and these two responded by leading the team in scoring in wins over Washington and Toronto last weekend. If the Pistons continue to get production from the young guys, especially early in the playoffs, it will keep the veterans fresh for the later rounds as this Detroit core group has the experience and desire to play with anyone in the league.
The Cavaliers received a bit of good fortune in Monday's one-point win at Philadelphia, when the officials judged that Devin Brown was fouled by the 76ers' Samuel Dalembert before the game clock rolled down to zero. Brown sunk the foul shots for the Cavaliers, and this was a nice turnaround for a team that has beaten down by injuries all season. Delonte West had seven straight double-digit games before the Philadelphia win, and he will need to keep those numbers going so teams will be hesitant to double-team LeBron James.
The Pistons have taken two of three from the Cavaliers this season, with the home team winning in each game. Cleveland are definitely a better team at home, as the team, with the exception of James, seems to play much more tight on the road. In the confines of their own arena, take the Cavaliers to grab a split of the season series with a win over the Pistons on Wednesday.
