PHOENIX (Ticker) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks' hot start seems like a distant memory.
Doug Davis takes the hill Monday as the Diamondbacks aim to avoid falling under .500 for the first time in nearly three months during the opener of a three-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Arizona began the season 20-8 and owned the best record in baseball after one month. However, the Diamondbacks have gone just 21-33 since and are coming off a 2-7 road trip in which they averaged just 2.4 runs.
The struggles continued on Sunday as closer Brandon Lyon blew a save during a 4-3 loss to Florida.
Arizona is looking to avoid falling under .500 for the first time since it was 1-2 on April 3. To do so, the Diamondbacks turn to Davis (2-3, 3.68 ERA). The lefthander spent three seasons with Milwaukee before being traded to Arizona at the start of the 2007 season.
Davis has one win in seven starts since returning from surgery to removed a cancerous thyroid gland.
Milwaukee, which was held to three hits in Sunday's 5-0 loss to Minnesota, sends Dave Bush (4-7, 4.94), to the hill. The righthander has won two straight starts, allowing just two runs and six hits in his last 15 innings.
