Free NBA Pick: Wizards at Suns

These two teams just met on Saturday night and Washington waxed Phoenix 127-105. The Wizards played way over their heads in that game, and in a quick turnaround rematch, we do not expect them to repeat that performance. Washington shot 51.6% (48-93) from the field and an incredible 66.7% (14-21) from three-point land. The Wizards also connected on 17 of their 20 free throws. Six players scored 11 points or more, and that production came when three of their key role players did not play.

Phoenix also shot the ball well in that game; the Suns shot 47.7% (42-88) from the field. But obviously that wasn’t nearly enough since the Wizards shot the lights out. The Suns are back at home where they are 16-17 this season; they are just 7-28 on the road. Washington also has a strong home/road dichotomy as the Wizards are 18-17 at home while just 5-26 on the road. The Suns crushed the Lakers in their last game 99-76 and we expect them to make it back-to-back wins on their home court tonight as they avenge their 22-point loss at Washington.

Free NBA Play: Spurs at Warriors

San Antonio crushed the Clippers last night 116-90. The Spurs brought tremendous effort for that game as they were seeking double revenge after losing twice to the Clippers earlier this season. While San Antonio was extremely focused for last night’s game in Los Angeles, we do not expect the same type of performance tonight, especially since the Spurs are playing on a back-to-back road set with this also being their third game in four nights.

Golden State snapped their six-game losing streak with a 108-98 home win over the Suns on Wednesday night. The Warriors should carry over that good play into tonight’s game, especially since they are catching San Antonio at the perfect time. The Warriors gave the Spurs a battle last month in San Antonio despite playing without their best player in Stephen Curry. Golden State only lost that game by seven points (95-88) while shooting terribly from the field (42.9%) and worse from three-point land (25%).

The Warriors will have their full lineup on the court tonight, including Curry who has scored 49 points in the two games since the All-Star break. We’ll take the points with home underdog tonight, especially since they are catching San Antonio in a terrible scheduling and situational spot.

Free NBA Pick: Phoenix Suns vs. Golden State Warriors

Phoenix won at Portland last night 102-98 snapping their four-game losing streak. The Suns got off to a hot start as they hit 18 of their first 24 shots (75%) to jump out to a 36-23 lead over the Blazers. But Phoenix went cold for the rest of the game as they hit just 39.7% (23-58) over the course of the last three quarters. They were able to hold on and survive because Portland’s offense was limited as they were missing starter Wesley Matthews.

Golden State also played last night but they lost in Utah 115-101. The Warriors come in on a six-game losing streak, and it just so happens that their last win came against Phoenix. The Warriors beat the Suns by 20 points (113-93), and we can expect a similar result tonight.

Golden State simply has too much offensive firepower for Phoenix, and since the Suns come off a good offensive performance last night, we expect them to regress and be unable to match Golden State’s offensive output. We’ll lay the points with the home favorite as they snap their losing streak with a blowout win on Wednesday night.

Free NBA Pick: Toronto Raptors at Miami Heat

It’s good to play after getting some rest. But in this case, the Heat could be rusty from having too much rest. Miami last played on Thursday.

I envision the Heat toying around with the Raptors, whose young players will be highly motivated going against LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and former teammate Chris Bosh.

It’s easy to overlook the Raptors with their lack of stars. Toronto, though, often slips under-the-radar getting good line value. The Raptors had won 10 of 13 before losing four in a row, including blowing 19- and 20-point leads against Philadelphia and Milwaukee. The Raptors got back to winning, beating the Lakers at home in their last game this past Sunday, 108-103. That should provide a nice confidence boost for the Raptors.

Toronto quietly is 9-3-1 ATS in its last 13 games versus Eastern Conference opponents. The Raptors are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games in Miami. Only once in their last 19 games have the Raptors lost by more than 12 points.
